Avast! A real update!
May. 16th, 2006 09:45 amIt occured to me yesterday that I have gone an uncharacteristically long time without making a real update of any kind. Not wanting to fall into the ranks of lilly-livered scalawags such as
megiloth who never write home of their exploits, I decided to ameliorate this dillema.
At this point the observant reader will notice that I did not update yesterday. This is because I was preoccupied with making Mediterrainean-style steak, Greek salad, and roast corn on the cob and with watching House of Flying Daggers to get around to making the effort. Truthfully, Mel did most of the cooking. I just helped.
Dinner was almost surreal in the way life imitates art. Here we were eating two Greek dishes, one Native American dish, and watching Chinese entertainment. It was like living in an episode of Firefly! Mel said it just meant we were Americans. I remarked that it was basically the same thing :)
Saturday we had our second party in our new abode. In attendance were those worthies
cherith and her husband,
kansaschica whose hair has grown to twice its length, then returned to the same length again in the time since I have last seen her. (Her breasts have grown too in that time, but their size now appears to be holding steady.)
pinkfaeriestars whose Firefly virginity was taken by us after everyone else had left. And
kakita_shisumo who was dressed for a mob hit and
duendegrrl and her friend Etoille who really needs to get an LJ. The party was great fun. Pizza was eaten. Emeril's TV show was mocked to much laughter, and games of Apples to Apples and Trivial Pursuit were played. Yes, this is what parties look like once you're near your thirties, kids. Enjoy the wild debauchery while you can. Actually, it's pretty much what all the parties I've ever been involved with have looked like and I don't regret it :) Anyway, great fun indeed.
My guilty purchase of the week was a bigger, more improved George Foreman grill. The cheap, rinky-dink tiny knock-off model I've had all these years will not see the light of day again. Since I bought it Friday I have been looking for things to grill and excuses to grill them. This thing freakin' ROCKS, that's all I can say. It's big, easy to clean, and it even has a bun warmer. Now I'm not the type of guy to sport a massive, arcing hard-on over appliances, tools, etc., but... actually, there are no buts. I refuse to sport a massive, arcing hard-ons over this either. Because if catching your massive, arcing hard-on in the jaws of your super-heated electric grill doesn't quallify you for a Darwin Award, I don't know what does.
Anyway, that was the weekend that was. This coming weekend I hope to go do some scouting of parks and such to find an optimum* place to perform our wedding. We've got a reverend to officiate and two bellydancers on board for entertainment so it would probably be a good idea to get an idea of an actual place :)
*Have you missed that word,
stitchedsutures? I threw it in there just for you :)
