uberreiniger: (WEEE!)
It's after 3 am so when I talk about "today" I guess I really mean "yesterday." But on this past day here is what happened:

-Got new brake pads on my car. Devastating financially but great for peace of mind.
-The long-awaited replacement PSU for my computer arrived. Never got notified that it shipped like I thought it would but I won't gripe.
-Had another productive and super-enjoyable practice with my band.
-Got to go for a long relaxing walk wearing my new hoodie that I like very much.
-Discovered a great band I had never before heard of and am now in love with, Powerwolf!

I feel it has been a very good day.

Just got the car home. And I owe [livejournal.com profile] zombiecowboy a beer for being right: it was the battery all along. Actually it's just one of many, many beers that I owe him. But out of all those myriad beers one shall be set aside and designated "battery." I'll write it on the label with big black sharpie pen and everything.

Car has been towed and is now in the hands of our trusty mechanic. Insurance reimbursed us for the tow. So now we wait to find out what's the matter with the blessed thing.

Due to a schedule change to accommodate an employee's wedding, I wound up having today off. In this day the following happened:

-Got my wife's car licensed and sales taxes paid.

-Finished reading a very good book. (Fallen by Tim Lebbon. If you like dark fantasy check it out.)

-In World of Warcraft completed Blackrock Depths, (one of the largest dungeons in the game.) And got not one but TWO epic items. (Items so rare you could run the dungeon dozens of times and never see one; two is almost unheard of.)

I've had a great deal of stress in my life lately and it's great to finally have a day of just non-stop awesome. Never take such days for granted. If you can get one, appreciate the hell out of it!

Well the good news I alluded to yesterday has come to pass: we have a second car again. Everything looked good on it and we took it home last night. Living with one car isn't a hassle unless you and your spouse are on different work schedules, which we are. Now we'll be able to go about our days without worrying about who's getting to work and how.

Wish I could say I had nothing else to worry about for the rest of the weekend, but tomorrow I'm getting our taxes done. Which is always worrisome until it's over with, whether there's reason for it to be or not. I've always been in favor of getting big things out of the way all at once, though.

And my short story I mentioned in the last post is finished. I'll post publication information as soon as I know it.

Twelve hours of overtime on this paycheck. I am pleased about this. It's one of the few things that have gone right today. I have been tense for the last sixteen hours and now it's just left me exhausted... but still tense.

Got a letter from the Toyota dealership today saying "Our records indicate your 2003 Echo may be due for regular service." Um... gee. ya THINK? Considering how the last time I saw it the front end was smashed to smithereens I think YEAH it probably needs some service! Morons. I hate being reminded of the car I lost.

But in the midst of feeling drained and frustrated I need to make a point to say special congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] blkhamster on the birth of her daughter Zoe. She sent out the photos today and that child is just adorable. Yes, all babies are theoretically adorable, but they all look the same to me. (*spreads legs* See? NO UTERUS! That means I could give a damn about how cute babies are!) So when I say a baby is adorable it must REALLY be adorable. Hope to see you back on LJ soon, girl.
