Dec. 10th, 2003 03:46 amA&A and Meghan went to see "The Last Samurai" without me tonight. There are times I hate having to work at midnight. Otherwise, I could've gone :(
For those not in the midwest, it's a blizzard out here right now. Driving to work in a blizzard can be as amusing as it is nerve-wracking. It doesn't matter if you're driving around the block in a snowstorm or a hundred miles, you will always see at least one idiot in a huge pickup trick who thinks "AH'VE GOT FOR-WHEEL DRAV! AH CAN GO AS FAST AS AH WANT TO ON AICE!" Passed one such idiot who was attempting to make a u-turn at a rate of speed you wouldn't want to make a u-turn at in the best of conditions. He was just getting out to see how much damage the rouch collision with the curb had done to his truck when I drove past. Ironically, it was nearly on the exact same spot where I had a rather scary fishtailing coming to work in the snow last year.
I shouldn't laugh or make fun. Something bad could very well happen to me driving home in this in the morning. But when it looks like you'll be going to see "The Last Samurai" by yourself it is easy to derive comfort from the suffering of others.

Date: 2003-12-10 06:35 am (UTC)Today I left at 6:30 and I got here late. Even though the roads are plowed and sanded and salted.... people still think that they have to drive 5mph on the highway! And like you said, there is always some idiot in a Canyonero driving, shifting lanes, and NOT USING HIS SIGNAL.
God I hate people so very, very VERY much!

Date: 2003-12-12 08:10 am (UTC)Iunno. I'm just trying to make sure Nal's journal gets preserved. Nal's my friend (TahLee). They said something about preserving all the accounts of deceased members, which would be really cool, considering the last post was from the day before it happened.
OH well. I guess try in a couple of days and people can just log on for free. I have no idea. I tried to read the legal-ease but I don't speak that language.

Date: 2003-12-12 12:00 pm (UTC)And I don't mind you asking. TahLee was probably the best friend I've ever had, honestly. We met at freshman orientation at our high school and just realized we were twin sisters that looked nothing alike and were born to completely different families. TahLee was going to go see a mutual friend to see Finding Nemo on May 31st of this year. On the way there, while driving down this two lane road (two lanes one way, two the other), a street sweeper doing 50 mysteriously managed to cross two lanes of traffic and smash into her suv. The first people to arrive on seen were friends of the family and another mutual friend. They say that she was already unconscious when they arrived and did not come to between then and the recorded time of death. Sounds like she never felt it, probably never even knew what happened.
It's just been an odd year this year.
