My last entry was over a month ago. Oy. I apologize for its cryptic, hostile tone. What precipitated it was a run-in with my ex-bandmates: the ones who kicked me out of their band because they found out I was planning to vote for Obama in this year's election. They picked September 11th to start harassing me, spamming my Facebook with their mindless rage and incoherent conspiracy theory ranting about September 11th, and Obama, and a whole bunch of other ugly crap. It left me pretty pissed off and I guess in not much of a talkative mood. On the upside, it gave me the opportunity to confront them over snubbing me at the Iced Earth concert earlier this year. Like the cowards they are, they tried to deny it. Anyway, they're blocked and hopefully out of my life for good.

Over the last several weeks I have worked incredibly hard, both at my day job in the pharmacy and with freelance work when I got home. The result of it was that I was able to purchase something I have been trying to purchase for several years now:

If you're on Facebook you've already seen it, but this is my new B.C. Rich Beast guitar. It replaces the Beast I foolishly and rashly sold several years ago, and which I have regretted selling ever since. This model isn't made anymore so it's meant years of combing E-bay for just the right one to appear at just the right price. It finally did and I couldn't be happier. I need two guitars so I can easily write songs in different tunings so this isn't just a toy. It actually gets me one step closer to fulfilling my musical ambitions. I feel like they are actually happening now and that's a tremendous feeling. Even with all the work I've done, purchasing this instrument actually crunched us up quite a bit financially, but in the long run I think it will have been worth it.

My wife has also started a new job during the time I've been away from LJ, and it stands to be a really good one. Keep us on your thoughts and prayers, that the positive career developments that have befallen both of us this past week will lead us closer to the big things we are both planning for our future.

There's actually a great deal more I could say about this past month, but I think I've touched on the key things enough. To anyone who's still left out there in LJ-land, I have not forgotten you.

Nice! :D

Is Mel finished with the massage therapy school then? Or did she decide to go into something else instead? I hope things continue to go well for you guys!

Rick is moving out here with Dawna next january, that's probably the most that's going on with us.

Yes, she is. She finished in May. She's interested in branching out into nursing, eventually, but for now is working as a massage therapist.

I bet Dave will be glad to have his brother around.

It's going to be really strange having relatives out here.

Good luck to Mel! I'll keep you guys in my thoughts. :D <3

That is one badass looking bass! Makes me wish I'd have learned to play when I was a kid. I was a big Chris Squire, Dave Hope & Geddy Lee fan.

It's a guitar, not a bass but thank you :D Geddy and Chris are incredible bassists who've inspired generations. I'm sure Dave Hope has too, I just don't know who he is.

I was operating on very little sleep & not very attentive. :-) Dave Hope played bass for Kansas.

Thanks. It's going to be tight financially for a few more weeks but hopefully after that we can start planning for the future instead of just getting by day by day.

Good grief, what a bunch of asshats.

Glad life is treating you and your wife well on the jobs front :)

Eh, they're a couple of anti-government Libertarian psychos. I miss having a band, but I'm better off without those two.

Your ex-bandmates are douchebags. My mother demanded to know who I was voting for this election today-- and I told her the same guy I voted for last time... and she got it and made SUCH a FACE! I wish I had taken a pic.

The guitar is SA-WEET! OMG. I want a video of you playing that bad boy.

Congrats on the much improved job luck for you and wife as of late. I'm very happy for you both.

Thank you for catching us up a bit "out here"-- we miss you!

I was in a band with a pair of goat-farming, extremely anti-government amateur porn stars... And yet I was surprised to find them Facebook stalking me. I really should have known I hadn't seen the last of them but when I write it out like that I feel kind of dumb for not seeing it coming.

Anyway, yes I do intend to make some videos of the guitar in action. Sadly, no sooner do I get the thing then I throw my shoulder out and can't play! Hopefully it'll heal up in a couple of days and I can start working on figuring out the instrument's full capabilities.

I miss LJ. It's hard to come back since it's turned into such a wasteland, but I'll never fully leave it.

"goat-farming, extremely anti-government anateur porn stars"-- yeah, when you write it out like that... 8^o

re: video-- WOOT!

It IS sad at LJ sometimes since so many have left-- but the ones left are more the dedicated writers, so the quality overall is better.

What a gnarly beast it is.

Play it in good health.

The vitrol from the people I know that are pro-Romney is sort of astonishing. Even my grandparents (whom I know are Republican and it's never really been an issue before) have spouted some of the most horrifying things on Facebook in the past few months. It's incredibly disheartening. I'm sorry you went through that with your friends or ex-friends as the case may be.

We miss you guys. I know Matt's reached out to you two, I think we should try and get together soon.

We still want to get together with Matt to discuss his story. Mel just started a new job and her schedule is different than mine, so it's kind of making it hard for us to figure out a time when we're both free but tell Matt we will try and see him soon!

We definitely all need to get together. I've been feeling that way for a while.

So the guys that kicked you outta the band are not fans of Obama AND they're 9/11 conspiracy types? That's a very odd combination. Not a whole lot of us wacky folks on the "right" are 9/11 truthers. Or are they more of the Green Party people who don't think Obama is liberal enough? Oh well. You're better off without them. You get to play with drugs all day and you're an actor. BOO-YAH!

Actually, they're Ron Paul-worshipping ultra-Libertarians. Here's another one you don't see very often: one of the reasons they hate Obama is because they believe he is committing genocide against Muslim in Iraq and Afghanistan. Again, NOT a complaint you see on the Right very often, where they're more likely to think Obama is Muslim or Muslim-sympathetic. Mostly, however, they're mad at him because the government won't let them sell their raw goat milk.

When they responded to my Craigslist ad that I was a bassist looking for a metal band I thought it was a dream come true. They were a couple of girls into metal who were very good musicians. I thought their goat farming operation was pretty neat too. Then it started to get weird. I found out about their amateur pornography business on the side, they started saying things about how the U.S. government had used HAARP to cause the Japanese tsunami, and then it just went downhill from there.

I'm definitely better off without them!

Holy Crap! You couldn't make up something this crazy. If you wrote characters like these two, they wouldn't be believable. Let's just hope they keep their goat & porn businesses separate...

I couldn't make something that crazy up, that's for sure. I've often had the thought since my last interaction with them that they would make a good basis for some kind of horror movie.

Now that you mention it, that does sound very Alex Jones-ish. As for the goat milk thing...ugh, I tried it once and I'd rather guzzle buffalo cum. That was quite possibly the worst thing I've ever had. If you drink goat milk you are a fool!!

I bet they got some pretty cool prescription drug conspiracy theories. Heck, they already think bottled water is making men more feminine because of bisphenol a. I bet you are secretly dispensing drugs laced with thermite paint and RFID chips to Ron Paul supporters because you want to suppress those who would otherwise expose you for the HAARP controlled government assassin that you are!!

WE ARE THE TRUTH!!!!!
