Hey ho. Kill Bill is a Cinematic Tour de Force! Do you remember that scene at the end of The Shining where the tidal wave of blood comes roaring down the hallway? There is more blood in this movie than that. Do you remember Braveheart? There are more limb-severings then that. Do you remember (for better or for worse,) all the endless, torturous, tedious years of the Highlander TV series and the three even more tedious Highlander movie sequels? Kill Bill has more decapitations than all those.
Now all that aside, this movie really is just mindless gore, for the most part. The plot is skeletal, at best leaving virtually every important detail unexplained. Thing is it's so well choreographed, cinematographed, and well-researched that you just don't care. It's like a live action anime. And the things they can't accomplish with live action anime, they branch into real anime to accomplish quite nicely. A lot of people in the theatre must have been "getting it." I was surprised just how feel people walked out. Good flick! Go see it.
