Saturday I read a little, washed some dishes, and played World of Warcraft. That was it.

Sunday I celebrated Father's Day by playing touch screen video games with him at his favorite bar. It was actually a lot of fun, probably the most fun I've ever had with my dad on father's day.

The Dethklok show on Sunday night... was a Dethklok show. Dethklok rocked the house, more than making up for the two mediocre opening bands. It was also the hottest concert I've been to for a long time. Liberty Hall has NO ventilation. There was enough sweat in the house that it was actually turning into condensation on the chandeliers above us... and dripping directly on my HEAD. Gross. I'm usually not one to obsess over getting clean but this time I had to take a shower when I got home.

Back at work now where more twelve hour shifts await. Thankfully not tonight though.

So of course I want to know more. How long was their set? What did they play? How did they set up a concert for a band that's actually animated? Screens? So many questions! :D

I believe the set list went in this order:

Dethklok Theme
Briefcase Full of Guts
Birthday Dethday
Awaken Mustakrakish
Bloodtrocuted
Duncan Hills Coffee
Kastratikron
Dethharmonic
Go Forth and Die
Hatredcopter
Murmaider
Thunderhorse
1st encore: Go Into the Water
2nd encore: Fansong

It was very well-done. They play with a huge screen behind them on which animaton constantly plays. He has it set up so that while you can see the live band, your attention is drawn to the screen and not them. It's all extended versions of the "music videos" for each song that you see on the episodes with lots of new footage. There are also various animated skits that play between songs, such as the mascot Mr. Face Bones explaining how to mosh and the band explaining to Murderface that it's okay to urinate onstange, and Murderface teaching them in turn that it's alright to sit down when you pee. And there's also a subplot with the Tribunal attempting to mutate Dethklok concert goers, which of course, doesn't work out so well.

I really have to commend Brendon Small and his animation team. They really put together a hell of a lot of material for this live show and his live band completely delivers their end as well.

It's impossible to go to a concert without getting someone else's sweat on you, but to have an amalgamation of hundreds of peoples' sweat dripping on your head... squick.
