Quote of the day...

From: Sound byte of some random NASA person who's name I didn't catch:
"We can't keep doing this if every fifty missions we're going to lose seven astronauts and the orbiter!"
It is a nightmare from my childhood reborn. Everybody of my generation rememebers where they were during Challenger. I remember wanting to be an astronaut when I was little. I have happy memories of our trips to the Kennedy Space Center when my aunt and uncle lived in Texas. I cried over Challenger for a long time. It was our generation's JKF: the moment we as children realized that not every bad thing you saw on television was make-belive. I haven't cried over Columbia, but it makes me remember how I felt when I was very little. For one brief moment, the person I am now touches the person I was then and we are the same.
