I need to stop reading macro communities over my wife's shoulder.

I finally got our potted plant garden potted today. We now have a vinca vine, an oregano, a mint, and a candy corn plant the blossoms of which really do look like candy corn as promised. My mom also gave us a potted tomato plant. I rarely eat tomatoes, but Mel likes them and they're fun to try and keep alive. I had been putting of planting the garden, but I really had a surprising amount of fun and by the end was actively wishing I had more plants. I haven't really done anything with horticultural since I was a child helping my dad in the garden. I didn't like it then. I am pleasantly surprised to find that I like it now.

I received an advertisement today via Careerbuilder saying that my old employers, Namco/Bandai are looking for a marketing director. Sounds sweet except I don't want to move to California.

It says the position is in Santa Clara, California. I hate Santa Clara. You know what I hate about it?

You guessed it. All the damn vampires.

What's scary was when I went to imdb.com right before making this post to check up on the Lost Boys there was an animated Kiefer Sutherland staring back at me from the site's main page! Granted it was an add for 24, but still it was spoooooky.

Your potted plant garden sounds lovely! And I must admit I'm quite curious about the candy corn blossoms...

Ours isn't this impressive yet. It only has three blossoms so far, but they're beautiful!

Ooh, they're quite beautiful! They look like little flames! I'm actually secretly attempting to grow some Japanese melons and gourds from questionable packets of 7 year old seeds I found collecting dust in an Asian market. Amazingly enough some of the seeds have started to sprout with some encouragement... I can't wait to see what happens (although all the instructions are in Japanese). ^.^;

Well if seeds that are hundreds of years old can sprout surely seven year old ones can. And in any language!

All the plants (I totally just typed 'pants') in our apartment die. We tried a few, and once we had an Orchid, and it was GORGEOUS and he lasted a few months, before dying. Stupid lack of green thumb.

yay gardens! the candy corn plant looks cool. I think I've seen it before with some other name, but I have no idea what that might have been. Pretty sure not having enough plants is a common problem. My passion is roses. I never ever have enough roses. There is always this other rose that I just must have. nowhere to put them, though. tragedy.

Roses are my favorite flower. Back when I did a lot of drawing they were a favorite subject. Just about every drawing or painting I've ever made for fun has had a rose worked into it somewhere.

me too! Except I never had a drawing/painting phase. But there are roses all over my brief pottery flirtation, and they are a primary subject of my photography. :)

I have three bushes whose flowers begin one color and morph into another as they open and age. And three that are just beautiful flowers. I reclaimed a garden just so that I could have roses. So now I can have lovely cut roses when I want them AND whenever I walk by the front yard, I can walk over and smell them. because they are lovely.

That must be so wonderful, to have roses whenever you want them! I envy you.

I would really like to start a garden. Unfortunately, drought conditions probably aren't the best time to start one. I hope yours goes well! I've considered setting up an herb garden in my office since there aren't plant eating cats and there's plenty of window sunlight.

I agree about the California thing. I don't know if I could be paid enough to move there... and I'm being completely honest. Especially SoCal.
