Notes On A Scandal

uberreinigerAfter much unpleasant dealing with the worst traffic light in northern Kansas City, Mel and I made it to the theatre and saw Notes On A Scandal And I'm very glad we did. Very intense drama from two of the best actresses alive today, Cate Blanchett and Judy Dench. They play a pair of schoolteachers, one with an extremely nasty secret, the other with an obsessive personality, severe attachment issues, and a girlcrush gone horribly, malevolently wrong. It is by no means Single White Female with funny accents though. It's way better than that. I recall hearing that Dench won a Golden Globe and she should. I have to wonder if winning as many awards as she does if it's just not exciting anymore. Both she and Blanchett need Oscar nominations for this. Did I mention that in this movie Cate Blanchett gets a gold star for wiping her ass? I'm serious.
In other news, further proof that reading the IMDB message boards will make you want to no longer live in this Christless world, on the message board for the new Chalotte's Web someone seriously asked "Is this like a Babe ripoff?"
Does the ensuing *headdesk* even need to be stated?
In all it was a nice day off. I have World of Warcraft again and finally managed to complete a quest I've been trying to finish for weeks. Went and got an oil change, and had a nice dinner with Mel at 54th Street Bar & Grill. Unfortunately I have to work both Saturday and Sunday. I'd rant some more, but since the job search is going nowhere I see little point. I just have to remember all the things that are going right and let them drown out the things that aren't. Besides, having benefits again is nice at least.
