Well, I got an e-mail. It's official. I didn't get the job. But hey, I'm having a better day than that guy they arrested in Thailand!

I'm shocked. I really believed JonBennet's parents had something to do with it. I feel kind of like a heel now for ever believing that, but I followed the case really closely and too many things just didn't add up at the time.

A pair of girls I worked with were on a trip to band camp in Colorado back then, just the day after JonBennet was reported missing. These two, who were not some of the brightest people I've ever met, thought it would be clever to hold up a sign in the back window of the van that said "HELP! WE'RE BEING KIDNAPPED!" One police roadblock and a surprised van driver, forced to the ground with a gun to his head later, the girls were sent back to Kansas with the shit scared out of them and a hell of a lot of community service time to do.

One of these same girls some time later broke up with a guy and would casually tell anyone who would listen that after he left her she just "sat on the couch, looked at the cum stains, and cried."

Yeah. Not that bright.

I'm sorry about the job. Hang in there, something better will come along.

I too was surprised by the JonBenet thing this morning. I thought the parents were in on it too since they were so uncooperative with the police.

Sorry to hear about the job. Just keep putting yourself out there. Your time will come as will mine... someday. I'm having to stick with my job for another year as well.

I know what you mean. I always thought the family had something to do with it too. Heh... just like that South Park episode where Butters "goes missing" because his Mom sent him into the river in her car. I'm glad they finally caught someone on it. I gotta say, being found in Thailand staying in an area that caters to sexual tourists and people seeking "massage" parlors isn't really the best thing for your case either. I don't see how any of it could be an "accident."

And that's just sad about that girl you knew. Not sad in the tragic sense, but in the pitiful one. Crying over cumstains. JUST CLEAN THE COUCH! I feel for any guests she had over.

Yeah, I've heard of crying over spilled milk but that's just ridiculous.

Eh, when whoever they hired in my place goes bugfuck on the call center floor they'd better not come crying to me.

Whoa! They solved the Jon Bonnet murder? I didn't think that would ever end, then it did, and now here it is again. *googles*

About those girls... what were they thinking? O_o

I'd like to say it was because they were young and weren't thinking, but they never got any smarter as they got older. If anything, they got dumber. One should not get sentimental over cum stains, I think.

Yeah, I heard that about JonBennet.. I really did think it was her parents. But eh.. her parents were pretty fucked up anyway.

Let me add my condolances about the job... it does suck. But get out there and keep trying; no matter what, keep sending out resumes and just apply for anything at all, no matter if it's above you or beneath you. And tell your friends to be on the lookout for positions that might be interesting to you.

Allow me to play my public defender-devil's advocate here: they haven't solved the JonBenet case yet. Just because some guy confesses to it, doesn't mean that he did it. Let's see some more evidence first, especially when other people perhaps can verify that he was in fact elsewhere when she was murdered.

I had some, uh, friends who thought that right after 9/11 it would be funny to all don turbans, get fake pistols, pile into a van, and go driving at break-neck speeds towards the army base at the south of my hometown, hanging out the windows and yelling at the top of their lungs. Thank goodness someone with more brains managed to talk them out of it at the last minute...

Heh. I had a buddy who was an MP at a base in Nevada for a few years. He was in charge of the gate guards. He regaled me with stories of the 3 cars that rushed the gate in his time there. Basically, college kids get drunk, get stupid, and think that the military can't do anything about it if they drive toward the gate at top speed.

They shoot out the front tires. It's in their policy manual.

All three of the cars flipped. Two of the drivers died. Three passengers died. The rest were put up on charges when they came out of the hospital. They now have federal records.

Is it wrong that stories like that make me happy?

They make me laugh.

He may not be guilty of JonBenet, but being delusional and hanging out in the pedophilia capital of the world probably makes it a safe bet that he's guilty of something.

As a public defender, can you tell me why anyone would think driving at high speeds toward people heavily-armed and authorized to use lethal force is a good idea?

At this point, I can't really figure out why people think that anything they do is a good idea... My favorite question is :"What were you thinking?"

They don't know. They're cracked out on cocaine, they have no idea what day it is.

First-- I'm sorry about the job.

Second-- I'm convinced they arrested the wrong guy.

1. He claims to have drugged her before he raped and killed her. Her autopsy toxicology shows nothing in her system.
2. He claims to have picked her up from school the day before. It was Christmas break. There was no school.
3. His ex wife (who divorced him for being a pedophile and has been completely working with police) has said that he was with her, in Arizona, at the time of the murder.

She also said that he spent an inordinate amount of time studying the Polly Klaas case. My opinion is that he had sick fantasies and inserted himself into the JonBenet case. He may even believe the false confession. But I do believe it to be false, and a sperm DNA sample should prove it.

Yeah, as more information comes out it looks like he either didn't do it and is delusional, or if he did do it, his muddled recollections will create enough reasonable doubt to acquit him.

But he definately does seem delusional, and given he was hanging out in Thailand, the pedophilia capital of the world, even if he's not guilty of JonBenet he's probably guilty of something.

You know, it sound wierd, but I never believed her parents killed her. She was a pretty little moneymaker, and made mom and dad look good when she won pagents. Now did this guy do it? I don't know. It is possible. It is even possible he has forgotten details over time. It has been a few years.
