I haven't felt much like LJ'ing the last few days. Frankly, I've been very focused on writing and haven't wanted to spend my computer time keeping up with the blog. But then I get days like today where I want to update, update, update.

Yes, I have been writing a lot. Working on the novel again, working on AW. Maybe I just ought to leave the novel alone, but I think it genuinely does improve each time I revise it. I figure each agent/pusblisher I submit it to I've got one chance with and I've got to make it count, you know? Anyway, I'm sick of sitting on the thing and want it out of my hands, hence I work on it every day like I should have done all along. Besides, [livejournal.com profile] ghaidin ate a lot of grapes this past New Year's Eve to make my first publishing happen and I owe it to her.

From what I understand, the fate of our contract at work will be decided this Friday. Best case scenario is we get to move over to the company's new building, continue our job, and maybe get a switch to daytime hours for me. Worst case scenario... well, worst case is we lose it and I don't get placed at another site, which probably means moving into [livejournal.com profile] megiloth's spare room and racking up thousands of dollars in debt to him, even as I mock him for being a faggot-fuckin faggot. (Don't worry kids, it's an inside joke between us.)

I'm really not worried about the outcome at all, honestly. Which is strange, considering how much I stress about finding a new job to replace this one altogether. But this is something completely out of my control and I can gain nothing by worrying about it, hence I don't. I'm still really hoping I get the job which [livejournal.com profile] yaqui tipped me off about. The wait is driving me crazy.

Anyway, that's pretty much it right now. Attention [livejournal.com profile] ghaidin and [livejournal.com profile] cygny: I don't trust e-mail things off my comp since we still haven't fixed it. Would you like me to try and post some AW onto LJ? I don't really like using LJ for fiction given that it's too easy to scroll past things and forget about them. For that reason the [livejournal.com profile] apocalpse_woman blog felt like a big failure to me. But for you ladies I'll make an exception :)

And now...

[livejournal.com profile] uawildcatgirl had this goin' on at her journal:

This is how it works: Comment on this entry and I will give you a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your journal, including an explanation what the word means to you and why, and than pass out letters to those who want to play along.

She gave me the letter "P"

PUISSANT: An archaic word meaning "strength" or "power", frequently used to describe a warrior's skill at arms. RPG writers love this word for some reason and it sort of soaked into my vocabulary. Even though it's a funny-looking French word, it does sound vaguely menacing for some reason and I like that.

PISS: No, I'm not giggling like a 7th grade boy here. I genuinely do like this word. Few words in the English language both sound and feel like the action they describe as adequately as this one does.

PURPLE: One of my favorite colors and it's a very sensual word which can be used quite effectively if you know what you're doing.

POISON: Great word, fair-to-middlin' hair metal band. Poison kills slowly, insinuatingly, and leaves a corrupted mess behind. By the time you realize what it's doing to you it's usually too damn late. Poison is all around us everywhere in this world and I think we should be more aware.

PANOPLY: Another archaic word. I refers to a suit of armor. Again, it sounds intimidating if you use it right. But if you're trying to intimidate people with your panoply then it would behoove you greatly to be puissant in its use.

PANDA: Pandas are just cool!

PARADOX: In order to love paradox, you must truly hate it.

PORN: Porn may be a terrible thing which wastes its participants and destroys society, but damn it's a cute word. And what's life without the odd backdoor redhead or two? :)

PAX ROMANA (AMERICANA, BRITANIA, etc.): I'm a firm believer in the currently-unpopular opinion that humans are naturally violent beings whose violence will never end and among whom peace can only be maintained by fear of reprisal. I neither like nor dislike this fact. I believe that it simply is. Hence I believe that the concept of "peace by the sword" is not an unsound one.

PUMMELO: Also called a shaddock. Have you ever eaten one of these sweet, delicious citrus fruits? If you haven't, you should! Did you know that the grapefruit was originally bred from the pummelo? Let's chuck that sour fruit out the window and give its yummy ancestor its due!

Since Garfield is getting ready for bed in the icon I give you the letter "Z!"

ohnononono! this icon is actually an allegory of Garfield reaching out to conquer his dreams, perched on the sweet moon of his illusions, amist the darkness of the nocturnal dispair and the indifference of the universe.
