DATELINE KANSAS CITY - The dead body of an African American male in his mid-thirties was pulled from the creek that runs behind the service call center where I work this afternoon. Police believe he'd been dead a few days. What they showed on TV couldn't have been more than a quarter of a mile from the building.
Dontcha just love the Big City?

I live up in Independence, actually. About 2 miles east of 435 highway. Are you from here originally? Man, it's a small world. I've been here about a year and a half. I lived my whole life in Kansas before that. I'm a small-town boy still getting used to the daily reallities of murder and random death. Although as far as cities go, KC actually seems to be safer than most, in my opinion anyway. As for why I'm here... I came here to get some theatrical experience on my resume since there's a lot of both professional and amateur theatre here. I'm working as a rent-a-cop to pay my bills in the meantime. Like I said, it's a nice enough town althoughI don't want to be here forever.
