Like all good geeks here on LJ, I now have a nation state! Follow the link and play it with me! HuzzaH!

Location: The East Pacific
The Grand Duchy of Voivodeic Mitderfaust is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its strong anti-business politics. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 5 million are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt, moralistic morass -- juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Healthcare, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 40%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Woodchip Exports.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Voivodeic Mitderfaust's national animal is the horned dragon, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the silver mordwraith.

wow, i had no idea that Nationstates was still going on. I had one for awhile back in the day. I'm pretty sure it's been deleted by now. But that's ok, it was fun!

Heck, i even bought and read the guys book. I do'nt recomend it. the first couple of chapters is absolutely great political/economical satire, but very very quickly it bogs down into a cheesy action movie on paper--and not even a good cheesy action movie.

Yeah, apparently Nation States is huge. The guy even says on the sit that, like you, he figured people would just toy with it for a little while, get bored, and then leave.

I've been very interested in reading Jennifer Government for quite some time, although I knew it had some action movie elements. It sort of sounds like Dr. Strangelove meets Aeon Flux to me and I like that. Love him or hate him, though, the site is really inspiring and sort of does what I would like to do as an author: be able to add an interactive element to my book. His success to this end gives me confidence.

I knew you'd dig it, baby!

Speaking of such things, I will have you know I found a copy of "The Marquis" at GenCon, but it was gone when I went back to purchase it :( I can however, proudly say that I have now seen Collin's smiling face jutting happily along the DVD's back cover. Oh curse the lost opprotunities of my life...

Ahh...Marquis. :) A play about a man and his talking penis using a lobster to anally invade a prison guard who appears to be a badger of some sort.
