uberreiniger: (master shake plays doom)

[livejournal.com profile] megiloth wanted comments on some political cartoons so now it looks like I shall be sucked into an abortion debate. It seems like all I ever do is get in fights with people online anymore, even though I know full well that arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics: even if you win you're still retarded.

Speaking of Olympics, as I mentioned to [livejournal.com profile] elvinborn the other day, Women's Gymnastics really creeps me out. I'm watching and thinking "Whoa! Check out the muscle tone on her! She's a BABE!" Then the girl turns to face the camera... and she's like, twelve. EWWW!!! ARRGGGHHH!!!! RUN AWAAAY!!!! RUN AWAAAAAY!!!! Sorry, but Uberreiniger does NOT wish to compete in the It's Legal In Thailand category of events! From now on I think I'll just stick to watching events like swimming and fencing where at least the ladies are old enough to have my children, not be my children. Or I could actually try to meet some women in real life. Hmm... now there's an idea...

In gamer news, I leave for GenCon on Thursday and my L5R deck is, as previously mentioned, as good as it's going to get. Which is to say, not very, but it may pleasantly surprise me. Who knows? I've decided to use the same deck that I won the free GenCon pass with. Something poetic about ending the journey with the same deck I started it with, you know?

I was hoping my GenCon vacation could be laid-back, but no. The powers-that-be wish me to have tension. Since I can't leave until Thursday I will only be able to play in the Friday L5R quallifier, which I have to do well in in order to make the championships on Saturday. Unfortunately, the last round is going to overlap with the LARP I've paid to play in Friday night, meaning basically if I've done well up until that point I'll have to drop my final round and hope that isn't held against me for advancement. Damnit, I'm trying to take a vacation here! Why can't anything be simple?

Meanwhile, guess what Dean and Lesley have been doing? Helping film a series of documentaries at haunted buildings in the area. Apparently they've seen a ton of supernatural things happen during the course of this past weekend. I am extremely jealous since I LOVE ghost-hunting and ghosts apparently love Tyree-hunting as well. I've made Lesley promise to beg the guy in charge of all this to include me in an upcoming expedition, so I would like fingers to be kept crossed for me. Also, they ultimately want to get these docs on the Discovery Channel and similar cable networks, so being involved wouldn't just be fun, it would be getting my face on television.

I only wish my haunted steel mill was still standing...

did you say "haunted" ???

Places like the Vaile Mansion. Apparently it's full of electromagnetic activity and haunting type stuff. Sunday they went to a place called the Sally House in Atchison, KS. I'm convinced Atchison sits on top of a portal to hell based on what I've heard about the haunted sites there and on what they saw Sunday. Really demonic stuff. Objects levitating and flying at people, one guy was getting scratched by invisible things. They're going to show me the footage sometime soon and I'm very excited. I just hope I can be in the next batch of footage!

there's no way to win that debate. ::runs away::

I would think that women who can beat you up/bench press you would be a bit scary anyway. For men's gymnastics, there are the Hamm twins who are not bad looking. But then they speak, and they have those tiny little gymnast voices. odd.

I don't even begin to understand most of that paragraph about L5R and the LARP. I know what LARP means, but that's about it.

just because it's not standing, doesn't mean the ghosts left.

Arguing for me is like gambling is for some people: there's no way to win, but you do it anyway.

I'd be happy to explain L5R or LARP in great detail if you're interested. Just tell me where to begin.

I've often wondered if the ghost left myself. Sadly since I no longer work there and it's a difficult place to sneak into I have no way to find out. It was such a cool old building. I wish they hadn't torn it down :(

I just want to know enough to understand WTF you are talking about :)

Well, L5R stands for Legend of the Five Rings. It's a fantasy world that exists as both a role-playing game and a collectible card game. Unlike most such fantasy environments, it's based on Asian myth rather than European so you've got samurai and shugenjas as opposed to knights and wizards, etc. The nifty thing about the card game is that big tournaments like this one allow the players to affect the future of the whole world by the cards they choose to play and the types of in-game decisions they make. Basically, everybody builds a deck supporting the samurai clan of their choice, (Or the Shadowlands in case you want to play the demonic bad guys,) and competes to see who will reach first place and claim the storyline prize for their faction. The LARP that I'm doing will also have storyline effects.

Anyway, now you know WTF I am talking about :)

Me too...sortof. Though I try to come to a happy medium. I guess my goal is to hear the arguement, to understand each other's point of view and be civil and find the things we agree with. I wonder what your personality is.
That explains alot. Did you ever take the myers-brigg personality test? If so what did you turn out as? I'm an ENFP (champion - Idealist)

You know, I forgot all about taking that myers-briggs test. I wonder what I would get...

Only kinda missed? ;)

I'll be back Sunday night so we can resume our regular chat schedule. I sent you an email with Chapters 13 & 14 but I'm not sure if it went through. Please let me know whether you get it or not and I'll try and send it again as soon as I get back.

LOL

Sorry, I was skimming over your post and had to do a double-take...

I thought you said "and ghosts apparently love Tyree-HUMPING as well."

(sorry, mind leaving the gutter now)

Oh if the ghosts were doing that, believe me, I'd never leave the (haunted) house...
