Dean and Lesley's dog Mickey has run away :( He got out of the backyard over the weekend and hasn't been seen since. They've been canvasing the neighborhood, putting up flyers, and calling every shelter they can find but to no avail. It's very sad. I love that dog. I even walked their neighborhood looking for him tonight, but to no avail. All I got was a lot of suspiscious looks from the many fat, pasty, half-naked, tattooed hovel-dwellers who inhabit their corner of Independence, MO. Look Ronnie Van Zant, when I'm tweaking for a serious fix of Skoal or a shot of Nighttrain, THEN I'll case your house for a break in. Until then I'm just trying to find a dog. Mickey ought to stick out like a sore thumb in a neighborhood where everybody owns a damn pit bull... But still, no luck. I just want him back safe. Lesley says she can't even look at his squeaky toys without wanting to cry and frankly I feel about the same way.

They have also banished Xander the kitten to Lesley's parents' farm for bad behaviour. I don't know why the kitten is malfunctioning now. He was perfectly fine when I gave him back to her. But Lesley just doesn't have the heart to be strict with him, hence he's been making a mess of everything (literally,) again. If Mickey doesn't come home it's going to be a much lonlier house I'll be housesitting when I come back from Georgia :(

That is too bad about the dog... I hope he turns up soon. I can understand how hard it is to be without pets you've come to love.

I hope they'll find the dog :( As for the kitten, maybe you can ask them to give another try at giving him good manners and have him over for when you housesit?

Does the dog have tags? Did they call the police? Usually there is a group of "Animal control" cops that they can talk to about this. They should also ask if anyone has heard any reports of a dog fitting the description running around in the area. Chances are someone spotted him, thought he might be rabid or something, and just called the police.

I really hope he has tags, if he does, I bet he will turn up.

What kind of dog is Mickey and what does he look like? And what part of Independence did he disappear from? I'll keep an eye out.
