I am the cock of justice, spurting my thick creamy hatred into the unwilling crevices of the ignorant.

Now that I have your attention :) the rest of this post will be rather boring. I was mistaken on the date of the read-through. It's not till Monday, sooo.... not the theatre's bitch until then. For those interested in attending, the dates of the performances are: Feb. 26, 27, 28 & March 5, 6, and 7 Times haven't been posted yet. I'll get them as they come.

The day/evening began with a bizarre dream in which I was Dante from Devil May Cry only while I did a lot of running, jumping and puzzle-solving, no demons appeared for me to hack apart. In the same dream, I wound up in a crisis where I'd volunteered to game, drive Melissa to a nearby town and back, rehearse for All My Sons and rehearse a production of Agamemmnon all in the same weekend and was now realizing I could not do it all. I then woke up realizing I don't have a single damn thing I have to do this weekend. Strange. After that, it was off to A&A's for L5R and Munchkin-Fu and me unintentionally overhearing a marital spat. Which as we all know, is one of the most uncomfortable and awkward positions one can be in. I love and adore Amy, but she is what you might call "high maintennance" and when maintennance time rolls around, the world knows it. Fortunately, I was there to give Adam some real problems to worry about...

Like facing down a third turn Iuchiban MWUHAHAHAH!!! Everyone who says the Horde are screwed in Diamond, are I fear, misguided. They don't have it easy by any means, granted, but they can still crack heads when it counts. Our second match proved equally slaughterous in my favor. Mind you, this is a Horde deck with minimal PK and in which I forgot to include Spearheads. Sometimes it's just good to be the bad guy.

Munchkin-Fu was fun, as always, but I seem to win at it far too often, to the point where it's a little uncomfortable. Damnit, why can't I be cursed with massive luck in something like high-stakes poker, the lottery, or gladiatorial battles to the death!?

Then I came to work early and took advantage of the weight room. After having been off the regimine for three months due to getting sick every time I worked out, (acid reflux. Now under control thanks to medication,) I've been slamming back into it pretty hard. If I can lift a spoon to my face without feeling terrible pain come tomorrow I will be very surprised. No pain no gain, right? And if I want to some day be able to crush the skulls of those foolish enough to oppose me within the crook of my mighty bicep, then I've got to start somewhere.

Well, Shadowlands does have the single best gold production. Especially if you go crazy and build an all oni deck. I'm just somewhat miffed because I see Phoenix PK/Honor and Crane Send Home/Honor as sweeping the tourney circuit right now. Dunno if they actually ARE, but I can't seem to find an effective way to beat them. Also, keep in mind this could be due to an absolute lack of FOU and H&E in our play environment.

I can't speak for Phoenix, but Crane as are as bad as you say. I have a Crane deck I built in literally ten minutes and I've yet to build an attack deck that can beat it... the Horde's beaten it once but I've yet to do more playtests.

Everyone on the L5R lists are whining about how the Horde has "chunky" gold. I don't see where they get it. I think they're just miffed they don't have free gold anymore. But it's one of the few promises from the GenCon Diamond presentation that they've actually delivered on: the Horde have better gold than anyone.

Wretches, Obsidian Mine, Corrupted Dojo, Shadowlands Bastion, etc.

If they mean "chunky", as in "too many big dollar holdings, not enough little ones", they aren't using Wretches and Corrupted Dojo. And even then, what the hell?

Dummies. :)

Phoenix with the stronghold that lets you play spells as an open action plus talented apprentice == money out your ass. It's in fact likely that talented apprentice puts them firmly in second place on gold. I routinely have talented apprentices in midgame with productions of 5/6 gold, and by late game it's more like 8 gold.

I think it's the notion of having to pay money for their gold at all that's got the SH players confused on how to play. I'm developing a theory on what it takes in terms of deck construction/mindset in order for SH to perform in Diamond, but it's beyond the scope of this forum. As for Talented Apprentice, I am absolutely in love with it. It definately makes up for the loss of Mystic Dojo for the Phoenix. It's not to be underestimated for Shinden Horiuchi for the Unicorn either. My Pony Bloodspeakers deck = me happy.

How about picking winning PowerBall numbers? Or finding a good parking spot?
