Good news

Something wonderful happened to me today. I finally got made full time at my work. This couldn't come at a better time since I'm going to be driving farther to get to work now. This will at least pay for gas getting me there and back. I'm still trying to get a part-time job for my days off. Mind you, an adult in their thirties in America should not have to do this. American dream my privileged white ass. But this is the way things have to be until I can find my way to make them better and I truly am grateful to have more hours. It should lessen the stress I've been having about the move just a little bit.

Listening to Alestorm has gotten me on a pirate kick lately. Maybe I'll dig out my old 7th Sea icons and use them to replace my draenei ones since I'm not currently playing World of Warcraft. Interestingly, I got home from work last night to find Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End playing on TV. I hadn't seen it since it was in the theatre. The Pirates movies make a lot more sense on subsequent viewings. I couldn't understand what was going on the first time I saw the sequels and that detracted from my enjoyment. Too bad I haven't heard a single good thing about the fourth one because the series was quite good for the first three films and that's a rare thing.

Tomorrow's the last day at work before my days off, a.k.a. Moving Day parts 1 & 2. Looking so forward to having the move done.

Fantastic news on the job front.

I enjoyed the 4th movie. It is very dark in tone, though, so that could be why a lot of people haven't said good things about it. I think I liked it more than the previous 3. Then again, it doesn't have Pretty Boy Bloom either, so with him and Keira gone I think it's disappointed a lot of people.

BUT! Now there's SPICY SENORITA CRUZ!

Congrats on the full-time! And you're right that a person in their 30s should not need a full-time AND part-time job to make ends meet. A lot of people share your pain.

It's taken long enough but it comes at a very fortuitous time. I won't complain too much.

yayy about the job! XD ♥
haha i didnt know what to think about the fourth movie. honestly, the whole series just seemed like a bunch of random, half-formed ideas thrown together, from a writer's P.O.V. i actually liked the fourth one better than the second. i barely remember the third one.

Keeping in mind that the fourth one was based on a novel and had nothing to do with the Pirates franchise before it was adapted.

For what it is worth, I think the fourth was far better than two or three. The only things that seemed really stupid to me were both of the romantic subplots. Jack's 'romantic interest' was a flaming Mary Sue.

I am so happy for you. Seriously fucking happy for you. I'm sorry it took me so long to comment; I saw this post a week ago but I didn't have time to give a decent reply.

I hope this is the beginning of a good period of time for you, just like I am finally having over here. I was so happy when I read this post. I wanted to cry and give you a massive high five and bear hug. This is a huge improvement! I want everything to just keep getting better and better for you.

What neighborhood are you in now?

Thanks Glenys! Your enthusiastic support really does mean a lot to me. I hope you are right and that this is the beginning of something really good. We are going to be on shaky financial ground for a while but I'm hoping we can overcome that quickly.

We are right where Overland Park begins, right where 635 becomes Metcalf.

Whoah, that's quite a commute for work! There's a huge Target over on Metcalf. Why don't you apply for full time over there. Couldn't hurt. If you got in, you could bicycle to work.

Oh, and, dangerdanger! You are much closer to Half Price Books now!!! ;)

It's actually not a terrible drive for me. Then again, I spent about eight months commuting from Gladstone to Olathe. THAT really sucked. This is only a twenty minute drive for me, which is reasonable for a Kansas City commute. I have friends who work at KU med center who commute from Independence and that seems huge to me.

Yeah, there's a Half Price just down on Metcalf :)

Congrats Tyree!!

Also, I love Alestorm! :) Keelhauled and Leviathan are my fave songs.

Keelhauled was their first song I ever heard. I was instantly hooked. It's hard to pick a favorite off the newest album, although I find myself listening to "I Am a Cider Drinker" on repeat a lot. After that I think my runner-up has got to be "Death Throes of the Terror Squid."

I don't actually know the titles of most of their songs. It's something I am terrible at...but the terror squid one sounds familiar.
