Dear Facebook friends list,

Shut the hell up about Dr. Who already! Yes, it is a great show but it is not TEN DIFFERENT STATUS UPDATES A DAY from TEN DIFFERENT PEOPLE worth of great. I have been enjoying gradually working my into the new series but you all are killing my desire to ever watch it again.

Furthermore, I don't know who "River" is that you all keep yammering about but if she can't kill you with her brain I'm not interested.

I liked the end of this current series but not enough to yammer on and on about it. :D

I loved the short Christopher Eckleston run of Dr. Who... and i remember watching it and being terrified of it as a kid.

but Tennant ruined it for me. Or rather overzealous fans sort of ruined it. :S

It's headed that direction with me very quickly. What pisses me off is that this show was some serious high-quality science fiction that fought to stay alive for nearly thirty years but now that they've started casting OMG!! CUTE BOYYYYYSSSS!!! as The Doctor suddenly these people care about it. You know I'm not the kind of person to take the "it's popular, now it sucks" attitude. But Dr. Who fans are rapidly taking me there.

So it's not just me then? I'm not just imagining it?

Not at all.

I've never been able to get into Doctor Who, despite forcing myself through four seasons of it. It's an alright show, but I don't understand the rabid fan base insisting it's the best evar. The way the fans act, the show is quickly heading in the direction Harry Potter ended up for me - something that I would have liked a lot more if not for the fans.

I don't think anyone I know would admit it but I think the only reason they care is because when they rebooted it they started casting cute boys to play The Doctor. For all the decades it ran with homely middle aged British stage actors in the role nobody gave a fuck.

I like to watch it every now and then but I don't feel this weird compulsion to write about every single line of every single episode on Facebook like so many people seem to.

it's like my friend Mmy pointed out... post about anything frequently enough and i will get sick of it. At least on LJ there's a cut function, but sometimes i want to just shout "I DON'T CARE ABOUT XYZ! SHUT UUUUUP~ D:"

Did they pull Firefly's River Tam into Dr. Who? Cause That River definatly could kill you with her brain! well, that and the kick ass Axe...

And yet those are the episodes I actually want to watch! Which should surprise no one.

Although the way things are headed (and now I'm a season behind) I think River just might be able to kill you with her brain. And I'm not talking Serenity/Firefly River either.

You know this cross-posted to facebook, yes? (If not, I'm guessing you will soon.)

It's been my experience that nobody on Facebook reads these anyway no matter how much I cross post so I'm not too worried.

Well, they are worth watching!

I'm only ever like that if there's a line that sticks with me. But usually that's with Torchwood and not Doctor Who.

Thankfully the spoilers are so free of context they don't mean much to me, but if I had watched more of the new series than I have and could thus glean more from the context I think I'd be pretty annoyed.

I don't even know who or what she is.

I don't think so. Nine times out of ten they don't even mention that it's Dr. Who they're talking about. They just blurt out statuses of River this! River that! So then I get excited because I think they're talking about Firefly only to be disappointed.

I've never even seen Dr. Who. My friends list (here on LJ, I avoid facebook like the plague except for political organizing) sure loves to talk about it though.

lol fandoms. I love the reaction I get when I say that I haven't read most of those books (I think I stopped after book 3).

Thomas and I are casually hardcore Dr. Who fans. To the point that we contemplated using the more recent series theme song as our recessional and having everyone farewell us with TO TIME TRAVEL!

However, I think we've nixed that idea in lieu of Disney Princess Movie Theme Music.

We download every season as soon as it's at least half-finished, and multiple people in our household own multiple seasons and movies and compilations - I have a large collection of the doughy middle aged men Doctors at the store. We enjoy it, we watch it when we've time, we catch up when we've REALLY got time, but we're not rabid. We're just nerds. We love cool stuff.

However, I'm quite a fan of Rose. She's rather juicy and spunky.

Love the Black Swan icon.
