[Error: unknown template qotd]Reading the "view answers" page for this is as predictable is at is boring.

"OMG! I want to go to HOGWARTS or SUNNYDALE HIGH because it would be all special and magickal and I wouldn't just be some extra who gets killed by Death Eaters or vampires at all!"

I was happy going to high school where I went. I had a pretty great HS experience. I don't think I need to muck it up by going to a new one infested with monsters.

Any new and exciting rules changes to SE? I'd heard that Winds were a bygone concept so how does the Favor work now?

Not really. The dueling rules are still the biggest weirdness for me, but that changed back with Lotus. Favor usage is pretty much back to what it was when the game began, though you can't rehonor people with it anymore, and drawing a card requires you to discard a card as well as give up the Favor. (Sending someone home with it doesn't bow them either, but that's been the case for awhile.)

Any new game mechanics? Any that have gone by the wayside, other than the ones were already being phased out in Lotus? (Naval, Yu, etc.) I'm still trying to decide how I feel about the new card faces.

Naval is still around, actually, and has been made easier to use but harder to gain an advantage from. You can now declare a naval invasion if you have even one more naval card than your opponent - no longer are entirely naval armies required - but, while you do get the first action as the attacker, that action has to be performed by a naval card in your army. So nothing out of your hand, and most of your OMG HUGE ranged attacks are on non-naval Tsuruchi. Oh, and Ranged Attacks no longer require you to bow as their default, but they also don't seem to be combinable any more.

I hear the 'kensai' trait will let you attach two weapons as of the next expansion, but I've not seen a rulebook to confirm that.

That's kinda cool, and it makes sense. I think they introduced the Ranged attack change while I was still in, toward the end. Yay! Spearmen suck less now!

I heard that Terrains might be going away. Any truth to that?

Nope. They're still here, though they can take effect immediately now, rather than waiting until a separate "Terrain Resolution" step in combat. Formations are gone, but that's not exactly surprising - they were an awkward fit in the first place, I think.

Yeah, I remember formations leaving. They were a nice idea, but not practical in the long run.
