Well I woke up this morning and all my television channels were still there. Guess Time Warner and Viacom got their differences straightened out.

I don't really have anything insightful to say about New Year's Day. I always thought it was an overrated holiday, even if it did inspire U2's best song (after "Sunday Bloody Sunday", of course.) I am at work because my job is to be there when no one else is. It's holiday pay so I think that's a fair trade-off for not getting to stay up until midnight. I am however glad that I no longer live in a neighborhood where I'm woken up at midnight by people shooting guns off or by the angry guy screaming on the porch next door to be let back into the party he was thrown out of. That was '04 and '03 respectively in the meth head backwaters of Independence, MO, by the way.

Come to think of it I think I've had enough excitement on New Year's to last me a lifetime.

From what I read last night, Viacom gave an "extension" to Time Warner. Stating that they have more time to comply with their demands. I don;t know anything more as of like 1am last night.

If Time Warner buckles, I will be so disappointed.

If they give in to Viacom or if they let the channels drop?

Give in. Essentially Viacom is loosing money since they put their shows online. People dont have to watch Comedy Central or whatever. They can watch other things and then go to the website when they feel like it. So Viacom jacked their prices up to all cable tv providers. Time Warner is the only company that has stood up and said no.

I read the news about an hour ago, and it looks like they are coming to an agreement. I personally dont mind Viacom asking for more money. But they were being unreasonable.

Yeah, it's blackmail but what can they do? Time Warner looks like the bad guy if they suddenly drop fourteen channels and they would lose a ton of customers.

Good ol' Kingsboro. I remember dreading anytime I had to deliver pizzas there. At least it wasn't Hocker Heights!!

When I lived there most of the problem tenants were taking their anger out on each other. Nightly domestic disturbance calls were not uncommon. The neighbors with the guy screaming on the porch, they were something else though. *Something* was going on there. It was two gangsta white girls who always had groups of shady characters coming and going at all hours. I don't know if they were hooking or dealing or both, but something was going on. Did I mention they mysteriously packed up and moved out in the middle of the night?
