Tonight I spoke to the professor and it turns out I really was getting all worked up over nothing.

Since I don't have a lot of credits in what I want to study I'm going to have to take some undergraduate courses to make it up. I knew this, but the good news is I can enroll at the undergraduate rate without having to submit papers, letters of recommendation, etc. And I would be making the connections to provide said things when I am ready for the program. We're supposed to speak again in April when the fall class schedule is finalized and set out on scheduling me from there.

So in the course of the day I've gone from depressed about school to excited and looking forward to it. Maybe I should be in psychology writing a thesis on manic depression instead? Nah, that wouldn't be any fun and what would be the point? NO! It would be radical and awesome!

Anyway, yeah, for the first time graduate school seems like a real thing to me and not just some nebulous idea I talk about but never do. Here's hoping the feeling lasts and that I can remember it later when I'm cursing about where to get the money, and later still when I'm cursing about papers and finals.

Wow! I obviously missed the earlier entry, so will go back and read it. I am thrilled that you spoke with the prof and got some answers.

Going back to school is just awesome. There are all sorts of programs and schedules for non-traditional learners (us.)

GO YOU!!!!!

Yeah, I spent all yesterday being dramatic about going back to school. But the woman I talked to was very supportive and really cleared up my worries. They're really used to dealing with non-traditional students in that department and understand the challenges.

Of all my education (two bachelor's and a master's) I certainly enjoyed my grad work the best. I think you'll like it. Although if you're like me, you will be all "where did all these damn kids come from??"

LOL.

More like "how are they all so YOUNG!?" It's funny, but when I was a teenager other teenagers looked like adults to me. Now teenagers look to me like they're about eleven years old. Age gives you a weird perspective on things.

I wish you a good start and hope you'll have lots of fun and go somewhere.
Hope the undergraduate kiddies won't be too anoying.
I never felt much like a stupid kid at that age, but my patients sometimes do. Not all of them, though....

As intimidated as I am about remembering how to study, write papers, and things like that the annoying kids are the least of my worries :)

In talking to the professor I learned that for thesis students they prefer them to have a strong working knowledge of the German language. I may ask you to quiz me.
