Satanic Winter Halloween Survey
Oct. 31st, 2007 02:11 pmHalloween Survey!
About costumes:
Best costume – A tie between a few years ago where I went as Rupert Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (complete with tweed coat!) and a few years before that where I went as Darth Hamlet, the Sith Lord of Denmark.
Worst costume – 2001 where I went as 19th centur Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Nobody could figure out who I was.
What are you going to be this year, if anything? I'm not going out so I'm not dressing up.
The first time you dressed up, what were you? The earliest costumes I can remember were the Centipede from the popular arcade game of the same name and Boba Fett from Star Wars. I don't know which one was first.
What do you think of girls dressing slutty for Halloween? inappropriate unless they're out of high school. otherwise they're just inviting trouble.
Have you ever dressed as a character from a movie? See above.
Where do you usually get your costumes? I usually make them; my Ren Fest garb is almost always involved in some way. I use my stage makeup a lot too. I don't think I've worn a storebought costume since I was a child.
Have you ever gone as a member of the opposite sex? I've thought about going as a drag queen, but it would be way too much problem.
If you could be anything, what would you be? Pyramid Head from Silent Hill.
Treats:
What was your favorite candy to get? Oh man, you're asking me to pick? I recall being particularly excited whenever I got Reese's Peanut Butter cups.
What's the absolute worst thing anyone could give out for Halloween? Razorblades, poisons, and Jack Chick tracts aside, I never cared for those peanut butter taffys in the orange and black wax paper wrappers.
Have you ever actually thrown up from eating too much candy? nope
Did your parents ration out your candy or did they let you eat as much as you wanted? I rationed it, actually. I wanted to make it last so I only ate a few a day.
Did they check your candy for razor blades before letting you eat it? Yeah, but since we knew everyone in the neighborhood we never worried much..
Do you roast and eat the seeds from pumpkins? I think I was well into adulthood before I understood that pumpkin seeds were even edible.
What is your honest opinion of candy corn? Love it. I don't get why so many people are grossed out by it.
Have you ever bobbed for apples? Yes. It was like being tortured.
Have you ever made popcorn balls? i think so...
Do you like caramel apples? Yes, but was afraid to eat them for many years as a child when one of my baby teeth came out lodged in one.
Tricks:
Did you ever go bag snatching or bowl snatching? no
Did anyone ever steal your candy? no
Did you ever egg anyone (or get egged)? no
Did you ever go pumpkin smashing? no
Did you or do you play Halloween pranks? no
Halloween Memories…
When you were little, did your parents go all out for Halloween? My mom decorated the house up really nice inside.
When trick-or-treating as a kid, did you know all the houses that gave good candy? Yeah. I took the same route every year and had a good idea of what I was going to get after a while.
Did your parents walk up to doors with you, or park at the end of the street, or just let you go with friends? I think I only went with a friend one year. After I was old enough my parents would follow along at a respectable distance while I went up to the doors.
Do you have any Halloween traditions? just dressing up and carving pumpkins
Most memorable Halloween – 2001. I went to the most parties and had dramatic romance issues going on throughout the season.
How old were you when you stopped trick-or-treating? I think age 12 was the last year I officially went.
What's something funny that happened to you on Halloween? This is sad byt I can't think of an actual "funny" memory involving Halloween.
Random Halloween stuff:
Do you decorate for Halloween? Not usually, although this year we hung a skeleton cutout on the door and a pumpkin cutout in the window. For me that's really going crazy!
Do you carve pumpkins? Not for a while. Our apartment layout doesn't lend itself to them being displayed well.
What is your all-time favorite Halloween movie? The Shining.
Have you ever been to a really good haunted house? Participated in a good one, actually. Got to be a corpse one year and lay twitiching on mattress springs. That was fun. A bit chilly though.
How are you celebrating Halloween this year? Staying in and watching movies.
Do you spend a lot of money on Halloween? No. I'm rather cheap about it actually.
Do you believe in ghosts? Absolutely.
Are you afraid of the dark? no
What really scares you? The possibility that being a ghost is the only afterlife there is.
Have you ever gone to a cemetery on Halloween? I avoid asshole teenagers the rest of the year so why would I go where they hang out on Halloween?
Have you ever had a séance on Halloween? I've never needed to. I've had enough proof of ghosts without them.
Almost every channel has a 'scary movie marathon' during the weeks leading up to Halloween. Maybe if I find one of the movies I really like.
If trick-or-treaters come to your door, what will you give them? This year I've got tiny boxes of Nerds candy which I will eat if no one comes.
do you think we should get the day after Halloween off from work/school? As long as it's with pay, hell yeah!
Have you ever gone to a pumpkin patch to pick out your own pumpkin? Every year as a kid.
Have you ever made ghosts out of tissues or toilet paper and cotton balls? when i was in grade school
How much time did you spend planning for Halloween this year? If filling out this survey counts, then way too long!
