"It's like Dracula vs. Yoda in there!"

I'm working on Halloween night. But surprisingly, I have managed to engage in more Halloween-related activities than I usually do this year. Usually I just wind up going to some half-assed party that night, but more often than not I'm the one who winds up sitting at home passing out candy. This past weekend, however, we saw a stunning theatrical staging of the works of Edgar Allen Poe. It was alle Goth and shite. Goth chicks in fishnets quoting the raven nevermore, bizzatches. Then the following night Mel and I volunteered at the Enchanted Forest in in Independence. It was a favor to Lesley for all her help with the wedding, but it really turned out to be a fun night. We served as trail guides navigating groups of people through the forest where charming little fairy tale scenes were played out by actors. It's pretty kewl and the kids who came all were havign the time of their lives. In all it was a pretty neat Halloween weekend. I shudder to think what work will be like tomorrow night, however.
Tonight we went and saw Batman Vs. Wolverine, er... I mean... The Prestige. I really only wanted to see it because of David Bowie who plays Nikola Tesla... and damn he makes a worthy Tesla. Tesla is a bit of a scary person, you know. It's frightening to think that our entire society, based as it is upon the harnessing of electricity, owes its existence to one man who was batshit crazy, but I digress. Anyway, The Prestige is quite a headtrip of a movie. You wouldn't think a movie about rival stage magicians locked in a deadly game of cat-and-also-cat could be so suspenseful and heartbreaking, but it is. Go see it. Just pretend that Johansson bimbo isn't really there. (It's not as hard as you'd think, either.) Anyway, yeah. Good flick.
