Today was my last day as a security guard. Tomorrow I re-enter retail hell, yet do so while earning more money than I ever have in my life. I really hope I'm up to the challenge. This is the first job I've had in a long time where I honestly want to do good and impress my employers.

Despite having spent four years at this last job I left with no sentimental feelings at all. No long goodbyes, no promises to keep in touch, just a nod and a "thanks" and a "see ya around" to everyone's farewells. When I got there last night it was like "well, this is it" and when I left I was like "well, that was that." Furthermore, I am amazed at all the people who have asked me if I'm going to have a hard time adjusting to a new sleep schedule.

Folks, I've been on my new sleep schedule for a long time. I've just unfortunately had to stay awake during it.

So here we are. I had planned to sit around, watch movies, and do laundry today but now I'm slightly itching to go out. We'll just see what the day brings.

It's always so nice to leave a job you've grown to loathe. What is your new sleeping/waking schedule going to be like?

BTW, I hear that gas is down under $2 a gallon in some places around town. Not. Fair.

I'll be working 8-4 this first week. Then next week I'll be on 1pm-10:30pm for a while so they can train me to close. That may go on a long while or it may not. Either way I'll be home at night and able to sleep!

Right on. 'Tis a wonderful gift to have somewhat normal hours that allow normal sleep with your sexypants. Or whatever you guys call each other :P

It's $1.99 by my house! Technically, that's under $2.

It's that way up here too. I should go out today and gas up if nothing else, since it's a few cents more down south by where I'll be working.

I saw that it dropped to $2.49 right by my house and I almost drove into a ditch while screaming in disbelieving glee! I think I'll have to take a picture of myself by the KC gas stations when I visit in a few weeks just for posterity.

Woohoo! Last day!

Isn't that the greatest feeling? It's definitely a sign that you were in the wrong place when you've been there for four years and still leave with a "screw you." Here's hoping that the new people have better morale and engender more of a sense of community. No matter how great a job is, it can still be hell if the people you work with are odious.

Gas is still about $2.15 to $2.30 around here, although I have heard rumors that somewhere in Atlanta it's below 2 bucks. I still don't know if I believe that...

So touch him already! What are you waiting for?? He is done with a job he hated. I bet he would like nothing better than for you to touch him. It would make up for all the misery he has had to put up with at old job. :) It is a good way to celebrate.

Let me add to [livejournal.com profile] rustie25's suggestion, give the man a massage. He went, he saw and he got the hell out. That deserves celebration :)

*happy dance for You!*

Glad to hear you are moving on to a better job for yourself. Fun to think Retail pays better than a security guard... oh well. Enjoy!

Hi Tyree! Congrats on the last day!

I'm writing to you here because I'm not sure that the email address I have is correct. I'm working on a show that opens tonight (yay!) and I'm wondering if you'd like to participate in tomorrow's show via cell phone.

It's called "Line One" and features actors on stage wearing earpieces connected to cell phones. At pre scheduled times throughout the show they will receive phone calls from folks in the outside world. They then repeat everything they hear (and only everything they hear) so that the audience hears the words of the outside voice through the actor.

Tomorrow night's theme is "Gay, Christian and Online". I was wondering if you'd like to call in and talk a bit about the topic. You'd be asked a question upon being transferred to the actor, like "in your view, how does christianity view homosexuality" or something similar. Then you just talk for anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes. Won't have further prompting or anything, you just talk.

I thought since you're actor-man you might be interested and I think the topic is something you do have some opinions on. Also though, I know it's a little strange and late notice.

So please let me know what you think. I'd be more than happy to give you more information and also totally understand if you're not interested. In FACT! you can go here: www.annextheatre.org for more information. You COULD put it on your resume though, if you wanted. :D

I'd love to but it is kind of short notice. I hope it goes good though!
