I found what looks like a good relief organizaiton to donate to. Unfortunately, you can only donate online via credit card, so it's off to the post office for me to mail a check.

Last night the cleaning guy's Harley Davidson refused to crank for him, so he asked me to try and give him a push start. All total, I pushed that thing the entire length of our front parking lot. That's about fifty yards. I then spent the next thirty minutes feeling like I had just spent a week in Marine boot camp. Granted, I was pushing about 650 pounds of metal + 150 pounds of man on top of it, but still it was a wake up call about how out of shape I am.

Breakfast was broccoli again - which it was already going to be anyway even if I hadn't found out I am a helpless pile of rubber. And more V-8 juice. Will likely go out to Subway for lunch for another load of vegetables. I CAN do this. I lost five pounds in four weeks a few months ago when I was working my hardest. I immediately gained it all back since I saw how good I had done and began treating myself too much. I just need to at least have some wind, 'cause this is f'ing ridiculous. Wish me luck!

That's something that will hopefully be easier for us both if we manage to get together. Exercise is something that's a lot easier to stay committed to when there's someone else right there to keep you accountable. The other couples I know seem to do a lot better job staying at it than the single people.

Good Luck!

My gym membership will be active in two days once again since i forgot to get over and tell them to freeze it. I really didn't want to spend the money just yet but i did need to be coaxed into activating it again. i was getting really healthy and lost about 20 lbs in a couple months when i was eating right and exercising. I gained about 10 back i think during and after the hurricanes, to which i said "FUCK IT ALL! I'll drink on the weekdays or whenever i damn well please since everything is blown to hell and i have no electricity and no work to do!"...that, and money got really tight and i couldnt swing $45 a month for the gym. I've just recently went back to trying to eat healthier and cut out weekday indulgences. No fast food as well. That's a big one.

Fast food is THE HARDEST thing for me to cut out and is the thing that will do me the most good. I was doing really well the last time I was dieting, only letting myself eat "bad" fast food twice a week and opting only for "good" fast food any other time I had a craving. (e.g. Subway, salad from Wendy's.) It sounds like your metabolism is a lot more active than mine if you can gain and lose weight so quickly, but I've got a few years on you and am getting to the age when metabolism starts slowing down. So basically if I want a chance of really doing anything I need to start doing it now.

Good luck.

I am coach of the team at work for a campaign that starts Jan 30th and runs until April 8th called "Get Fit". You log exercise, weight loss, as well as portions of fruits and veggies. I can't wait to get into it! If you want, I can unofficially put you on my team! :) Go Purple Power! (that's our team name!)

I need to actually get a scale for here at home. That would help. Mostly I just go by how well my pants fit :P But yeah, definately just trying to approach the problem with more fruits and vegetables. There's all these fancy diets and whatnot, but sometimes the traditional methods work best and this has worked for me before. Purple's one of my favorite colors and the team color of my alma mater, so sure, sign me up for the team! :D

You are unofficially signed up. I will let you know the rules once I know them. I know that 15 minutes, 1 fruit, or 1 veggie is one point. You have to strive for so many exercise and food points per week (just so you get the total number over the 10 weeks, they count it as a success). Then you can opt to track your weight - the weight goal is 5lb weight loss. You either try for that or not (there aren't any points to track).

So, I think I will need your three things by Jan 30th: wt loss (yes or no), food pts/wk, exercise pts/wk. Hooray for the Get Fit program. Go Purple Power!
