They just said on Fox news that 56% of respondents to an AOL poll said they will be doing their Christmas shopping online this year. Is that really true? Has society really become so disconnected into the computer world that we think of the internet before we think of anything else? For me, shopping is part of Christmas. And I actually do enjoy shopping at Christmas time. I even liked working retail at Christmas, back when I used to do it. Sure I'd get mad about it just like any other retail employee, but in a sadomasochistic way, it was all part of the fun. On the other hand, I guess it'll be more fun if I can shop in peace while they're staying home.

Another thing they said is that the hot gift this year is iPods. All that does for me is drive home how not-of-this-century I am. When I hear a song I like, I think "man, I really need to get that album!" not "I'm gonna go home and download that!" I wouldn't even know how to operate an iPod if you gave me one! Here is me using an iPod:

"Oog! Oog!" *scratches self through flea-infested loincloth and sniffs iPod curiously.*
"Ook!" *nudges iPod with stick, iPod's display lights up."
"OOOOOHHH!!!!! AAAWWWK!! AAAWWWK!! OOOOOHGG!!!" *in a frenzied panic, smashes iPod with club made from thigh bone of a woolly mammoth.*

Oh well, since my mom is using my car and my dad is out with the rental doing laundry, I'm not gonna get to Christmas shop today anyway. I hope everyone had a fun and fullifilling Thanksgiving!

I enjoy shopping too, but I still did about half my shopping online last year. It saved alot of money actually, cause I got lucky and cought Toys r us having a major net sale, and Amazon is always cheaper. This year I am not doing much shopping in general, the whole fridge plumber fiasco and all, but I have done a little on the net, and will no doubt go out christmas eve people watching and to do the last bit.

I do my shopping little by little over the course of the year. I've been known to find something months in advance and store it away in a big box I have. But often, online shopping can be fun, too. At least, if you're looking for something rarer and have to really hunt for it. I went the eBay route for some of my gits because they were things I would not have been able to get otherwise.

But I do think that a lot of people are just getting lazy when it comes to certain things and relying on the computer too much. That seems to be the way of things these days.

I shop that way also. The only one I can't shop that way for is the six year old nephew, Orion. He's always changing his lil noodle on things.

Its really sad to see that people can't shop and converse together anymore. Its getting way to impersonal for my likes.

I always intend to shop a little bit here and there over the year, and then I intend on doing internet shopping in about october, and I end up shopping the 2nd or 3rd week of december. I HATE christmas shopping. I hate the crowded malls. I dont like crowds much. If it weren't for the fact that I love nebraska football I wouldn't go to those games because the crowd is too much. As it is, I get there WAY early so the crowd fills up around me and I dont have to walk through it.

I am weird. I know.
