I was never really into superheroes as a kid. I was more into really big robots. But super hero traditional brings to mind a human being, or at least a creature human-sized and shaped so I can't really just fill in the blank with Optimus Prime like I usually do and call it a day.

Favorite super hero? He-Man? No... He wasn't heroic, Skeletor was just incompetent. He-Man always beat him so fast he still had 45 seconds left over at the end of every episode to lecture you about the importance of brushing your teeth. The Thundercats? Yeah, if you cut out Lion-O and Snarf who were basically the Shaggy and Scooby of anime furries. Why were Tygra and Cheetara always going off together anyway? Think about it. Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors? Nope, too weird.

My favorite childhood super hero is... Jem of Jem and the Holograms. What? She had a secret identity! She used a freaking sentient computer to project a high-tech illusion around herself! Batman doesn't even do that. And she may not fight crime per se, but in addition to being a high-powered rock star and owning her own record label she ran a freaking orphanage. AN ORPHANAGE! That my friends is what real heroes do. Try finding role models like that in children's entertainment today.

Somebody make this happen: Live action Jem and the Holograms starring Lady GaGa. Somebody make this happen. Right now.
