A profound thought occured to me in a conversation on elvinborn's journal. It involves the phenomenon of the netty pot.

How come if the president suggests shooting water up someone's nose it's torture, but if Oprah suggests it it's a miracle cure?

Well that's just freaking great. You can smell that nomination now, can't you Hillary? Once again, someone will be sunk politically and never get the chance they deserve simply for speaking the truth. Oh telling the truth, what a novel notion! Too bad it will never play on the Hill. It doesn't matter if Obama is elitist or not. He said what's true. There are a lot of people out there who feel bitter about their situation. Bitter people cling to what they know. And like it or not, there's a lot of people in America who know guns and who know religion. (Or so they think, but that's a different story.)

It's not Hillary's fault though. People as a rule don't like hearing the truth about themselves, and I can hardly blame the woman for taking advantage of that.

Jimmy Carter went to Israel today and pretty much pissed everyone in both the United States and Israeli governments off by setting up a meeting with the leader of everyone's second favorite terrorist organization, Hamas. Apparently part of his objective is to obtain the release of three Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

Great. Because you know, Jimmy Carter is JUST the person who you want trying to release hostages. Because you know, he has such a GREAT history with that.
