Heat Haze

Once again, my bedroom traps all the heat in the entire house. Napping tonight was an unpleasant experience. Ugh.

This is the most humid night I have seen in a long time. Haze covers the city in a thick fog, moisture, heat, and firework smoke all combining to give the sensation of being trapped in a gigantic armpit, smell included. Makes me glad to be in my nice, air-conditioned call center building. And yes, I am aware that now is the part where all you sweet Southern Belles on my friends list stand up as one and proclaim that I "have not SEEN humidity yet!" Well here, let me save you the trouble:

I have not seen humidity yet.

There we go. That feels better. Anyway, it was a very nice day spent bumming around Barnes & Noble acquiring reading material for any downtime on my trip and a book on cd for the long drive; Diary by Chuck "Fight Club" Palanhiuk, a.k.a., Grand Master Chuck. All hail him. Was going to pick up Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil in keeping with the whole Georgia thing, but the audiobook is only three-and-a-half hours long. Barely even a dent in my road tripping time. Also nearly picked up something by Bill O'Reilly, but feared what might happen to me spending ten hours alone in a car with Bill O'Reilly's voice, like spending the entire week of my vacation walking around beginning every sentence with "Talking points believes..."

And really that's all I did the entire live-long day. It's like I'm on vacation already.
