Heat Haze

Once again, my bedroom traps all the heat in the entire house. Napping tonight was an unpleasant experience. Ugh.

This is the most humid night I have seen in a long time. Haze covers the city in a thick fog, moisture, heat, and firework smoke all combining to give the sensation of being trapped in a gigantic armpit, smell included. Makes me glad to be in my nice, air-conditioned call center building. And yes, I am aware that now is the part where all you sweet Southern Belles on my friends list stand up as one and proclaim that I "have not SEEN humidity yet!" Well here, let me save you the trouble:

I have not seen humidity yet.

There we go. That feels better. Anyway, it was a very nice day spent bumming around Barnes & Noble acquiring reading material for any downtime on my trip and a book on cd for the long drive; Diary by Chuck "Fight Club" Palanhiuk, a.k.a., Grand Master Chuck. All hail him. Was going to pick up Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil in keeping with the whole Georgia thing, but the audiobook is only three-and-a-half hours long. Barely even a dent in my road tripping time. Also nearly picked up something by Bill O'Reilly, but feared what might happen to me spending ten hours alone in a car with Bill O'Reilly's voice, like spending the entire week of my vacation walking around beginning every sentence with "Talking points believes..."

And really that's all I did the entire live-long day. It's like I'm on vacation already.

:-P Ok, I have been in Wichita near all my life, with visits elsewhere.. Kansas has a higher more unpleasant combination of heat and humidity than is found near anywhere else.

Yes it does, and I'm only fifteen minutes away from Kansas so it's really not different at all.

This will be my first experience with the written word of Grand Master Chuck, but "Fight Club" is one of my favorite movies and everyone tells me the book is very close to the movie. Funny that it still won't be the written word of Grand Master Chuck since it's in audio format. Let's see if I can keep it up and read all his books without ever actually reading them!

I only saw Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil on DVD, with the absolutely wonderful Kevin Spacey.

And I know about the vacation feeling, the fact that Alby is home for two months makes me feel like I should be as well :P Unfortunately am not :P

What day are you leaving exactly?
