It is said reality is consensual. It is a core tenet of some religions, in fact, such as Buddhism, that reality is not in fact _real_ but only something _perceived_ as real by a mind bent on crafting illusions for itself in order to define its world. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the realm of language. Ever since participating in the ill-fated film on the subject, Systematic, it is a subject I have had much interest in.

Have you ever encountered a word you've never heard before, and then soon after hearing it you are suddenly seeing and hearing that word all over the place? The first time this happened to me was while reading Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time novel series. Mr. Jordan is very fond of the word "alacrity." I had never heard "alacrity" before, but shortly after reading it in his book, I began to see and hear "alacrity" being spoken everywhere. (alarcrity is a synonymn for speed, btw.) Now it's happening again. Earlier this week I encountered the word "bloviated" for the first time. (Bloviated means "long-winded", btw.) I had never heard it before, anywhere. Ever. And now tonight I'm watching The O'Reilly Factor when Bill O'Reilly drops the word "bloviated" on me again! New words are being created all around us and being created retroactively. Help me prove it. If you have ever read or heard the word "bloviated" any time in your life prior to this past Monday, then please contact me and inform me of it with utmost alacrity.
