Fox News did a piece today on mounting anti-French sentiment in the U.S. They mentioned a diner in Philadelphia which had begun referring to french fries as "freedom fries." I will refrain from commenting on the irony of trying to associate one of the most devastating foods you can put in your body, (and I should know,) with "freedom." But I will say it's disturbing because french fries were invented by an American citizen of French descent and any restauranteur would know that. It's disturbing, but it could be kind of thrilling if this ideological linguistic purge were to spread to other words... Anyone for a little "freedom kissing?" :)
