Oh! I saw a lot of advertising and some DVDs of Wolf's Rain on the con this weekend. I hesitated a lot and in the end didn't buy any of it. Is it worth it, what is the story about?

Oooh! I think you'd love it. It's a very haunting, beautiful story about a post-apocalyptic world where wolves have been hunted nearly to extinction, so they have adapted by developing the ability to transform into humans. A decadent society of nobility is destroying what's left of the world, so a pack of wolves sets out to pursue a prophecy that might allow their kind to escape into another world before everything falls apart. Like I said, it's very beautiful and thoughtful. Very sad in places too, but still one amazingly good anime series.

Someone told me something of the kind but wasn't as specific. Now I feel a bit sorry I didn't get the first DVD after all, it sounds intriguing. I'll remember this for the future. But why oh why don't the local tv channels broadcast any interesting anime for a change!

The only good anime I ever saw were on French tv, so for once, I'm not going to agree with you ;) Blame the Belgians this time :P

I, Uberreiniger, do hereby blame all Belgians except you. And Hercule Poirot 'cause he's just cool.

"ding dongs"

*gag* ..... You need an introduction to the wonderful world of European junk food.

"Desperate Housewives"

You're the second person on my friends list to mention that. Should I be watching it?

"parallel myths running through world religions"

Me too! We should have a conversation about that sometime.

Just don't try to feed me any of that Pocky crap and we'll be fine ;)

I just saw my first episode Sunday night and I'm hooked. It's about this clique of shallow, upper-middle class women whose pretty little world gets disrupted with the death of a friend who had some dark secrets, and it's just this great black commedy where their perfectly-ordered lives proceed from one trainwreck to another. The dead friend apparently also narrates it from beyond the grave, so it looks like it may get even more interesting.

Parallel myths have always grasped my consciousness and we should talk about it sometime. I think we can probably come up with something better than the Anti-Chick tract guy's theory that the Horned God likes to dress up as Santa and bang old ladies at Christmas time ;)

Never had it, though [livejournal.com profile] anirishspitfire has me wanting to try it now.

I'll check it out. I wouldn't have considered it without your recommendation.

Indeed.

I haven't honestly had it either, but the way everyone describes the flavors and what's in it, it just sounds gross. But if you like it, I'd give it a try too... but you'd owe me!

I'll try it first (if I can ever find it) and let you know.

An American friend sent me two kinds of Pocky and where I loved the ones with chocolate (what else is new :P), I absolutely hated the strawberry flavoured one :P So if you find some, I suggest you go for the chocolate ones as well :P

I'm curious about the various chocolate ones as well as the vanilla, coconut, milk, and green tea flavored.

I just can't wrap my mind around the idea of tea-flavored candy. Then again, I'm not hugely enthusiastic about tea to begin with, so maybe that's why. Of course, I love root beer, yet those root beer flavored hard-candies you can get just make me want to vomit. So maybe my pallette just doesn't take to any sort of beverage being compressed into candy-form.
