I'm not enough of a jingoist to believe Saddam's capture will stop or make up for the fact we're losing 1-3 soldiers a day over there on average, but, damnit, there's just something satisfying about watching a homeless man get arrested outside the palace he used to live in! BOO-YAH! SUCKA! Hey Saddam, what's up with that beard!? You trying to evade capture by disguising yourself as Fidel Castro or what!? *Nelson laugh* HA-HAAA!!!

I agreed with the invasion of Iraq on principle, not on policy. Bush made a diplomatic catastrophe of it and we'll probably spend the next fifty years getting half of Europe to talk to us again. But wasn't it really just a matter of time? These were people who were basically looking for an excuse to stop talking to us anyway. Granted, that doesn't make it okay. And yes, undoubtedly, if we were going to throw down on anyone for being a threat to our safety, it SHOULD have been North Korea. Their murder camps are still up and running in full swing over there and no one's doing a thing about it.

Unfortunately, none of that changes one harsh, inescapable fact: Saddam had it coming. He deserves this. He may not have been the immediate threat to us our president made him out to be, but that doesn't change the fact that it couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

Hopefully, Saddam's capture will cut down on the number of soldiers that we're losing over there. I'd like to think that the people he's conviced to be martyrs in his war will see that he's not willing to practice what he preaches and is nothing but a big weenie when push comes to shove.

And, who wanted to talk to France, anyway?

I find it quite amusing that we captured Saddam at this time, he wasn't hiding too far from where he used to live, what, did they not go check farms while they were looking for that SOB?

Just in time for the election. Ho-hum.

now we have to do is get that danged ol' elusive Bin Laden character already... hmm...

and i agree with you about North Korea. The things my brother had to say about that situation when he came back from the area were insane. I cant believe the oversight we are making here just because Iraq was a more popular target for those making the war decisions.

That was my immediate thought too, but I've decided to put my conspiracy theorist tendencies (and I have them pretty strongly,) aside just this once and enjoy the moment for its own sake.

No offense, but it takes some serious left-leaning delusion to think his re-election chances were shot. I've yet to see a democratic candidate Whom I seriously thought had a chance of unseating him. Mostly because all the Democrtic candidates are uncharismatic wimps. Wesley Clark? Gimme a break.

Oh, I don't deny that it's possible. I said months ago that either Saddam or bin Laden would convieniently get caught near election time. That doesn't mean it was necessarily all a set-up, though. I mean, it's possible (as some have suggested,) that Bush "allowed" 9/11 to happen so he could have an excuse to go commandeer everyone's oil. However, they are allegations I am personally uncomfortable with making until I see proof. I wasn't denying the possibility, I was simply stating that the Democrats chances of unseating Bush before the capture were tentative at best.
