Return of the Berserker...

Going to another L5R pre-release tournament tonight. Hopefully I'll do better than the one I attended Saturday. Not that I did badly on Saturday - I took 3rd - but 1st and 2nd get lots of the new cards w/o having to pay for them :) Tonight I'll be playing my faction, the Crab, which should make me do better. For those who know nothing of the game, the Crab are a samurai clan of really vicious warriors and berserkers who basically try to keep the forces of hell from conquering the empire. They're vicious, ugly and fun to play.

But enough gamer geek stuff. In three more days I'll be leaving for GenCon and I've got a ton to do. Isn't that always the case right before you travel? I've got to buy stamps and mail all my bills due this week, get traveller's checks, write my ghost story for skynock and anirishspitfire and... oh yes! PACK!

I haven't taken a vacation in three years. This should be interesting. The only downside is that I'll be spending four days in close quarters with two married couples. (We're all sharing a room. I'm sleeping on the floor.) This should be... fun. Fortunately the convention hall is open 24/7 so if I get fed up to the gills on lovey-doveyness, I can flee as need be. But *sigh* I find it annoying that while I can flee my shady neighbors, my dead-end job, and my car-shopping headaches, it seems I cannot flee my wistful sense of longing for companionship. I mean come on, how BAD is it when you're part of a group going to a ROLE-PLAYING GAME convention and you're the ONLY ONE without a DATE!?

Oh well, a lot of cute goth chicks do show up at these things to play Vampire: The Masquerade. Maybe I'll manage to get up the nerve to like, talk to one of them or something.

well, you have my best wishes on dealing with the lodging with the "hitched" folk. *grumble* hopefully they'll have a little decency and not make you feel overly inadequate and rejected . blah. i know how that goes. but i cant wait to hear about how your convention goes. vacations are always good for a tired soul.

Ah yes, the ghost story...~guilty grin~ I still have to write one of mine as well. And you haven't taken a vacation in three years?! You poor thing! ~Signs him up for a spa or something where he can be pampered~ Yeah I sort of know what you mean about sharing a room with couples, I'm long since adapted to sleeping in hotel/dorm room arm chairs heh. Awww, I bet you'll meet someone cool. I highly doubt that everyone there will have a date, and I'm sure with your razor wit and good looks you'll break many a vampiress heart. (Courage, courage! 'Who Dares, Wins!') Have a great time and good luck packing!

Um, sure! E-mail me your cell phone number and I'll see if we can get together. We'll be getting there Thursday morning. Do you have Adam's cell #? It'll be the best way to get ahold of me since I don't know the hotel room number, nor how often I'll be there anyway.
