I found out why I don't have DSL. Because I'm not GOING to have DSL. They sent me a letter today saying that it's "not available in my area." Which amuses me because I had to enter my phone number, zip code, etc. online and it confirmed that it was, in fact available in my area. Anyway, so until further notice I guess I'm still stuck in disconnect central. In a way I'm kind of relieved, I guess. I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to be able to afford it anyway. Especially with Christmas coming up and property tax due. So... back to stilted conversation.

Did you check www.dslreports.com? You could have an alternate route to DSL.

Not likely around here. SBC is pretty much the only game in town. Even other DSL providers piggyback onto SBC lines still...

When we first moved to KS in '99, they told us for two months that we'd have DSL installed... this date, that date, the next date. After two months, it turned out that our area didn't get it yet.

It took a good 2 years to get to our area.
