I am so confused
Jul. 30th, 2004 02:14 amI saw John Kerry's speech at the DNC tonight and against my better judgement, I think I'm actually starting to like the guy. It boosted my confidence to hear that he does not intend to just walk away from the war on terror, as that's been my main issue in not wanting to vote for him. Granted, he's still got some explaining to do about why, if he was so against invading Iraq, that he decided to go ahead and vote in favor of it. Gah! I have never been this frustrated about who to vote for in my life. I'm about ready to just sacrifice a chicken and read the best candidate for president in its entrails.
Anybody have a chicken? I need it for a, uh, science project...
Tonight was a damn good night musically. Finished the guitar line for that third song I mentioned a couple of posts ago. Now I'll spend this week practicing what I have so far and working out other parts in my head so I can share them with the keyboardist and hopefully this project will begin rolling along in earnest. It is stressful writing music on a deadline, but there is something that just feels so good about about feeling metal strings under one's fingers and making something resembling music come out of an instrument. If you're not a guitar player then there's just no way to understand the satisfaction one feels at seeing the shreds of dead skin hanging off the fingertips of your left hand* after two hours of practicing and genuinely feeling like you have accomplished something meaningful with your day other than wake up, eat, sleep, shit, shower, and go to work. It's a priceless feeling; one I can't believe I actually deprived myself of for so many years just because I thought I wasn't any good - and I may not be, but I don't care.
Only negative of it is that I didn't get very much editing or writing done today on any of the fiction, but the weekend's here so hopefully I'll get caught up.
*No one freak out, it's just a natural part of forming calluses.
