As forecasted, I went to Dean and Lesley's tonight. We sat around for an hour and a half reading a George Bernard Shaw play that Dean's wanting to do as a reader's theatre piece at a state theatre conference. All in all a delightful reminder of why I find Shaw to be the most insufferable, bloviated figure in 20th century theatre. If you've never read him and have no idea what I'm talking about then, well, you're not really missing much. Nothing much going on in his plays except misogyny and really big words.

After the reading, I let Dean hear what I've been working on for the Dracula music and I'm pleased to report he was delighted. So with that established, we now have an overall direction for the sound of the show. We'll have access to a full recording studio very soon and good stuff will happen. Now I've got to write the rest of the music and start working on melody tracks. I'd like to think I've got plenty of time for all that between now and October, but I know better.

Lesley walked me out to my car to help me load up my music gear. I told her about my travel plans for this summer, which invariably led us to talking about me and her. Then, much to my surprise, she said it. The very thing which only a few short days ago I said I thought she'd never say. With no prompting from me, she said it:

"I know I really messed you up. I handled all of it badly. I really damaged you. I'm sorry."

I couldn't believe it. I was amazed. So we talked some more, no getting angry on my part for once. It was just... an amazing thing, to think that it's just very recently been on my mind, and then now, not long afterward it gets said. Will it make a difference in clearing up my hurt feelings? I can only hope so. Regardless, I still have to chock it up to one of those really amazing coincidences.

But then again, I know there's no such thing as coincidence.
