Let's play a little game
Oct. 19th, 2003 01:29 amWe hear a lot of sickening things in our lives, especially if you engage me in conversation for any length of time. But some things just... stay with you. I've been trying for several weeks now to think of a list of all the most disturbing statements I've heard uttered from other people I know in my life. The list is quite small, so this either means I am extremely jaded, (which is possible.) Or I just haven't been told that many terrifying things. Naturally, being somewhat analogous to a soaking wet Curious George standing before a properly-tempting electical outlet with a metal serving fork in hand, I began to wonder if it's the same way for other people or if I have just been extremely lucky to have never been so intensely disturbed. In short, I am throwing down the gauntlet. I wanna hear it. I want each of you to share with me one statement you have heard from a friend or acquaintance that truly and deeply disturbed you to the core. First, some rules:
1) The statement has to have come from someone you wouldn't have expected it from. Salvador Dali was famous for uttering statements like "sometimes I spit with pleasure upon my mother's portrait." But he was _famous_ for it. That means people expected it.
2) Keep it fun. It's not about one-upmanship. Don't feel you have to "top" anyone else.
3) Again, keep it fun. Don't post anything you can't laugh over. If the most disturbing thing you ever heard was uttered while your psychopathic stalker was holding a knife at your throat, then please, go with the second most disturbing thing.
Naturally, I will start things off. ( click here for what he said... )
Yes, he proceeded to tell me how. Yes he told me with whom. No, we were not in Arkansas. No, I have not known his statement to be applicable in any other case except his.
