Dear Mr. Opening Band opening for the band I want to see,

Nobody knows who you are. You're not on the radio. You're not on Rap-Music-And-The-Real-World-I-Love-The-70's-VH-1-MTV. You're a bazillion miles away from the city you came from and all your fans in the local "scene" there. I did not pay to see you. I don't care about you. So kindly play your set and get the hell off so the act I paid money to see can come out and play. Don't jam for over an hour playing every song you've written ever since you were old enough to bang on pots in your mother's kitchen. I know not everyone at the show works at midnight but I do and when I only get to see twenty minutes of one of my favorite bands it puts me into a very foul mood! So kindly play four or five songs, pile back in your van and leave me the hell alone! Unless you're going to play "Freebird" in which case it is okay. Only you didn't play it! As [livejournal.com profile] batchix and [livejournal.com profile] stitchedsutures would so aptly say, fucktards.

i feel for ya... i've seen openning bands have to fill time before if the headliners arent ready to go out yet, but really.. they shouldnt have done such a reproachful thing. i say you find out where they are playing next and heckle them throughout their set.. you know... waste their time. but revenge never got anyone anywhere.. or did it...

Now, see, Devin can play as long as he wants. I mean, look at the guy. Are you gonna tell him no? :)

Well, Lacuna were apparently quite ready so there was no excuse. Several people said they played an impromptu warm up set at 6:00 and when they came out they didn't even sound check except for the drums, and very briefly then. They just picked up, plugged in and played. I must say, though, that having seem them twice now Lacuna have got to be one of the friendliest bands I've ever seen. They're always smiling between songs and when they ask the crowd if they're having a good time they sound like they sincerely mean it. They just genuinely seem joyful to be sharing their music with you and that's something you don't always see. Hopefully they'll come through again and maybe I'll actually get to talk to them this time. I'd love the chance to get to know them a little. Sadly, (or not, depending on your point of view,) I don't know if they'll be playing tiny bars for very much longer. There's starting to be quite a buzz about them and it wouldn't surprise me if they hit it really big in the next few months. Not that that's a bad thing. They deserve it.
