Don't get offended. I was just quoting "Army of Darkness." Heh heh.
In a little over fourteen hours I will be setting out for Indianapolis and the silliness known as GenCon. I am so excited, not so much for the event itself, but just to be GOING somewhere and doing something DIFFERENT. You can tell I haven't taken a personal getaway in a while, can't you?
I'm starting to get ancy now about actually doing well in the L5R events. It wasn't a big deal up until now, but now that it's down to the wire I've got that little voice buzzing in the back of my head that says "gee, I really hope I win." I'm just trying to keep things in perspective and remind myself I'm going there to have fun, that winning isn't really a big deal.
Man, I shouldn't even be doing this. I am going to come back broker than a used car from Arkansas. There's just too much temptation there, too many books, goodies and knick-knacks that will catch my eye. So much for the down payment on a Toyota Echo... But I'm not bothered. I've earned this and I'm looking forward to having a good time.
I'm about halfway packed. In the four hours till we leave in the morning I'll have to squeeze in a trip to the bank, an emergency load of wash, last-minute packing, last-minute L5R deck modification, and lots of silly running around going "Okay, am I SURE I turned off/unplugged X or Y appliance?"
Tonight's my last night with Lesley for a week. Sounds like a long time doesn't it? Yeah, it does. But hey, I do it all the time, just now she'll be a few states away instead of a block. But she's taking care of my stuff for me while I'm gone, so in a way we'll be connected :)
So that's how things are going now at T-minus 14 hours. Maybe you care, maybe you don't, but I don't have time to worry either way since now I'm off to the Realm of the Redhead (a.k.a. Lesley's)
