Machine war

Today I clearly have no business touching machinery.

My computer caught some nasty Malware. The kind that taunts you to buy anti-malware software while hijacking your system and opening windows all over the place. I seem to have this fixed with the help of a kindly and knowledgeable friend over the phone.

So I go to rehearsal at [livejournal.com profile] zombiecowboy and Lesley's house and that goes fine. But then I stop to get gas a few blocks from their house afterward and my car dies. Just won't start, period. My friends come and give me a jumpstart but I only make it a block before it dies again. They came and gave me another jump which got me back to their house where it currently sits parked, waiting for tomorrow when we'll get it towed to my mechanic. I'll probably need a new alternator.

The light switch in my basement is messed up and barely wants to move. And the CD drive on my mom's computer might be about to go out too.

Oh well, at least the malware's gone. For now.

Sounds like the malware made it out of the computer and is parading around your real life. :\

I wouldn't be surprised!

Damn, that's one bad day. Hope your car doesn't cost too much.

It was a little over a hundred dollars for the new battery. Not a bad price compared to having to buy a new alternator.

Your car died RIGHT AFTER getting gas? Have you considered the notion that you got bad (watered down) gas? It happens sometimes, especially at small, mom & pop type gas stations. You can buy a bottle of stuff that burns the water off at most gas stations, though. Cheaper than an alternator.

No, whatever it is is definitely electrical.

Darn!

OK-- you were cursed today... Satisfied? o_O

In the words of the great and wise Dave Mustaine, I'm usually only satisfied when I'm pulling out :)

Turned out it was the battery all along. Definitely better than my long-time gas station sabotaging their gas.

"I'm usually only satisfied when I'm pulling out :)"

Naughty! |^P

Yeah, battery better than either trusted gas station fraud or alternator. So I believe congrats are in order!

Gah - I've so had days like that. Hopefully things will start looking up soon!

Sounds like a patch I went through- washer and dryer, my car and then the wood stove. Sorry honey. &hearts

How does a wood stove break down?

[identity profile] ravenbrenna.livejournal.com 2010-06-04 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh wow....that sounds like...not fun!

[identity profile] uberreiniger.livejournal.com 2010-06-04 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I've had more fun, it's true.
