redstar826 that I'd share some of the bands I've been listening to lately so here they are.

Up first is Paradise Lost with a video inspired by the Elisabeth Fritzl case. Possibly triggering.

Epica are for all you Nightwish/Lacuna Coil fans out there. Apparently no one told them M. Night Shyamalan already had this idea like, thirteen years ago.

Dark Tranquility invented the Goethenburg metal sound. If that means nothing to you, just rest assured that they're good at what they do.

I've known about them since they hit the scene but it's only been very recently that I've truly begun to appreciate them and pay attention to them. I've missed out on a lot but I'm making up for lost time!

Mmmm... Paradise Lost is one of my favourite bands ever. I got into them back in 2002 when I was in Luxembourg. A buttload of their CDs were on sale in a music store for cheap, so I bought them all because the year before I had heard "One Second" and "Isolate" and thought they were amazing.

Lucky! I can't find any of their cd's here except this newest one and I was lucky to find that one. It's a shame because their entire catalogue is amazing. Once I get the disposable income to suscribe to a download service again I'm going to have take that last resort in order to get their older stuff.

I actually really liked the first one! I'll have to check out more of their stuff. As for the second song, I like her voice better than I like the actual song. Not too crazy about the last song.

I sometimes like Simone's voice better than the rest of the songs too. That's changed on the new album though, like their trying to bring the musicianship up to be on par with her voice. Not that they were bad musicians, but it seems like they've got her voice now as another instrument to compliment the rest instead of being center stage.

Paradise Lost's stuff is hard to find. They have a ton of videos on Youtube though and they showcase really well how their sound has evolved over the years. They're a band that have experimented with several styles of music. I'm glad you liked it.

Hmm. I <3 Paradise Lost and Epica is nice, but I don't have anything by Dark Tranquility. I'll definitely have to check them out. Thanks for the reference! :)

DT has good distribution here in the states. (I think they're on Century Media.) So their back catalogue is easy to find assuming you don't just download it. Their sound doesn't really change much from album to album but it's okay because every album is good.

I like your taste in music.
The Paradise Lost video is scary...nothing happening except for a wig being cut to pieces, but the message is clear enough to create nightmares.

I totally love Simone Simons' voice, and the vid, although VERY 6th Sense, is fun to watch.

I saw the Dark Tranquillity vid a couple days ago. Looks like I shall be going the MetalDisc in short order.

I have pretty much all their stuff. First got into them back in '95 or so when Nyk (Frost Like Ashes vocalist) turned me on to The Gallery. Been hooked ever since.

Cool website. I'm going to have to start ordering from them since metal in the stores around here is getting harder and harder to find.

Dark Tranquility is good stuff. Most bands can't put out albums as quickly as they do and still have them be decent quality. Really enjoying the new one and I'm going to have to throw the older ones on too. I hadn't listened to DT for a while until this release showed up.
