He was a judge at the Miss USA pageant. He asked Miss California if she supported gay marriage, she said she didn't, and for that he voted against her getting the title. But it didn't stop there, he went on his video blog afterward ranting how she's a bitch and a cunt, all because she disagreed with him.

Now that I've watched the video, I would probably vote against her too, unless the answers from the other contestants were equally bad. Not because I disagree with her position but because of how poorly she worded her response.

Doesn't change the fact that it is really unprofessional for Hilton to be badmouthing someone from a contest where he was a judge.

As far as I can tell, the only reason Perez Hilton is famous is for having a blog that makes fun of/gossips about celebrities. Makes me wonder what they were even thinking including him in an event like this. Although, I suppose a big part of these beauty pageants is judging women on very superficial things, so maybe he does fit right in.

That is precisely all that he is famous for, and I guess it does make him the perfect judge for such an event. But even the most superficial judges at the most superficial pagaents should have the good sense to keep their mouths shut about how they vote and why.

Basically, Perez demanded she either suck up to him or he'd humiliate her. He brought up a hot button issue (most likely hearing her accent) and basically toyed with her. "Say what I want or I'll make you suffer."

It was a really underhanded and cruel stunt. My friend Dr. M is a passionate Zionist and famed for his support of the ZOA. He has a son in the Israeli army and he plans to make his home in Tel Aviv. Yet, when he interviewed people in the college for internships, he made a point of making sure that students who identified as Palestinian felt comfortable and equal and that this was business and not personal. Since the board is heavily Jewish, he takes it as his personal responsibility, being fair.

Does Dr. M disagree passionately with them? Of course. But he doesn't' ask loaded questions as revenge to make them look bad.

One of the greatest duties and honors is to serve as judge, any judge, any arbitrator and when it's used as a weapon, it's disgusting.

Perez makes his living being nasty people so I think he's the last person who should be talking about marriage - wich is supposedly about love. I don't agree with the girl's view, but I thought she was respectful and tactful in her answer. She definitely comes across as a classier person than Perez Hilton.

But that's the thing, you don't have to agree with someone to think that they are a classy, intelligent and beautiful person. Unless the job of Miss America requires being pro-gay marriage, she really doesn't have to believe in it. I disagree along with you, but I also disagree with using a litmus test on a personal issue. It wouldn't be right if the situation was reversed. If an evangelical Christian judge did this to a contestant who believed in gay marriage, voted against her and then cursed her out, there would be a revolution. Hate hurts on both sides.
