Our battle with obesity goes back a long time, apparently because paintings of the Last Supper show a lot of food.

I have to agree with the Duke University psychologist who observes that this is "not meaningful science."

*sigh* I mean, it's interesting, yes, but it doesn't really have anything meaningful to add to the whole obesity and supersizing debate.

Obviously we can learn a lot about peoples' eating habits from studying the art of an era. But this looks like they already have their conclusion about obesity in history and are trying to make data (and not very reliable data, given that it's paintings of a religious subject where artistic license is liable to run rampant,) fit their preconceived conclusions. That's not good science.
