Not for the first time, but for one of the few in my adult life I am PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!

Last night I went to bed high on Obama's victory, had dreams of women engaged in sapphic breast fights, and woke up with a sore throat.

I didn't expect Obama to win by the landslide that he did. It was amazing. But I really want to give my respect to John McCain for the beautiful, classy concession speech that he gave. I've believed in John McCain for as long as I've known who he was. This year I felt that he betrayed me. Last night I watched him become the man I admired again. I hope he stays that way, that he will be willing to help Obama lead this country and that Obama will be willing to let him.

I believe Obama is a good man. History was made last night. I hope he will be worthy of the honor he has received, that he will be the man to meet the colossal challenges he will inherit.

News has just come down that Prop 8 has passed in California. Now I have been saying this all morning so I apologize if you're hearing it again, but it is a message that I feel cannot be stressed enough:

All that the passing of Prop 8 means is that we still have more work to do!

Part of what supposedly makes America great is that we do not rest secure in our victories. We're always on to the next challenge, the next obstacle to overcome. Even if everything about the new administration fails the fact still stands that last night we proved that paradigms can be shattered. So let them have their Prop 8 while it lasts. It's only a matter of time now.

At last night's election party we got onto a discussion about which guy from the show Heroes was the hottest and I think that caused the dream. In it I was fighting my way through this warehouse/prison complex/dungeon place accompanied by Mohinder Suresh and the Petrelli brothers, except they weren't using any powers or doing anything to really help me. So we'd get attacked by these things that looked like humanoid versions of the Silithids from World of Warcraft and I'd be fighting them off with swords and shotguns, meanwile the three guys from Heroes would just stand there talking about stupid existential crap. I think I got tired of them because I finally left Mohinder and the Petrellis standing in this water-filled chamber talking about philosophy while I struck off on my own.

After some misadventures trying to obtain a clean work shirt, (I have no idea what that was about,) I entered this chamber that was like a harem. It was this vast bedroom with all these naked women lounging about, engaging in varioud leisure activities like reading and sewing. One of them made some joke about being a lesbian, so another who was very well endowed snuck up behind her and tried to wrap her boobs around her head (!) The two of them then fell all over each other, laughing and trying their best to tit-slap each other or otherwise smother one another in their mammaries.

Dr. Freud would have a field day with this, but right now I'd really prefer a throat doctor instead.

Obama winning, lesbian dreams...sounds like a good night!

It's change I can believe in!

I had a very good cry last night (of happiness) about Obama winning. :) Then a very good cry (of sadness) that the stupid prop 8 passed...

George Takei supports gay marriage. George Takei was on Star Trek. Star Trek stressed racial unity, and American values in the face of Communism (Klingons.) Even better, Star Trek showed us how to win through peace and not violence with the Klingons joining the Federation.

Star Trek is as American a story as American stories get. If you hate gay marriage you hate George Takei. If you hate George Takei, you hate Star Trek. If you hate Star Trek, you hate America. If you hate America, you're a terrorist.

If you oppose gay marriage, the terrorists win!

Dude, that was awesome. Leave it to you to use beautifully nerdy logic.

[identity profile] uberreiniger.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not the first person to say it, I just added a few steps in the middle to complete the logic structure.

I'm a goof but I'm also serious. They're only going to be able to deny people equality in marriage for so long.

[identity profile] nightshade-7976.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Very true...

[identity profile] tempest-azure.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
If I never supported gay marriage before, you would have shown me the way.

Who can argue with George Takei?

[identity profile] forensicgirl.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Hee. You win the internet for this supreme example of geek-logic. :)

Have you seen George Takei's reply to Tim Hardaway? It's awesome.

[identity profile] forensicgirl.livejournal.com 2008-11-08 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't that the best reply ever? :)

Your dream sounds good, at least.

I'm happy about Obama, but man, Prop 8, that sucks.

A bunch of people I knew at the GLBT temple got married after the court decision and now what happens to them?

[identity profile] uberreiniger.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, they say the ammendment doesn't go into effect retroactively so they can't undo what's been done. We'll take the victories where we can get them.

The dream was fun but it would have been better with more lesbians and fewer insect monsters or super heroes spewing post-modern babble.

Wait, where did you hear that about the amendment??

[identity profile] uberreiniger.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It's what one of the commentators on Fox News said about an hour ago, although confirmation of this would be nice.

Even California AG Jerry Brown seems to think it is uncertain, and that it would be up the courts to decipher.

[identity profile] rosehiptea.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Does that mean they still have to recognize the marriages that have already been performed? I hope so...

Yeah, I can see where the insect monsters detracted from things.

[identity profile] uberreiniger.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It would mean that. Let's just hope it's actually the case.

After some misadventures trying to obtain a clean work shirt, (I have no idea what that was about

Yeah I have no idea why you would have a dream about that :P

TITTY DREAMS WILL ALWAYS WIN OVER POLITICS.
